Hey if you lived here in Victoria I here ICBC takes wrecks fix's them up and then sells them with no disclosure ? yah they got busted but people are forgetting about that already. Even employees were buying up cars to flip them. Our tax dollar @ work for us. My big bro always say you borrow my car get in a ding you better total it as I don't want any fix, so I took replacement Insurance.

seems like all the damage is in the rear. be glad your fender didnt buckle. mine got rear ended last tuesday. i was at a dead stop in bumper to bumper traffic and some kid behind me decided to gun it for no reason and just slammed into me. couldnt have been going more than 10mph and he slammed more into the right side of the rear bumper. put a hole in it with his jacka$$ tow hook and caused the passanger side rear quarter panel to bow out over the wheel well just eeeeever soo slightly. now its at the body shop getting a new bumper cover and the quarter panel will need to be pulled, bondoed and painted. i know it will never look the same again but there is nothing i can do. i just pray its a smooth repair. hope yours is a smooth fix as well. i hate seeing mustangs banged up no matter what.

Yeah it sucks, I had someone just nick my driver rear corner, only damage was to the bumper cover, was going to go with a new one, but the CS version is a lot more then the standard GT cover. I had it repaired (a little plastic welding) and they did a very good job, can't tell at all, they also repainted the entire cover so that might have helped. It was 600 to fix and 1000 to repair.

Wish you luck, I don't know if I could go for bondo myself, but I've seen bondo jobs that look flawless.

You make a very good point. I had not considered this. But, If I were looking to buy a Mustang and found one I was interested in, I might not want to buy it after I found out it was in a wreck. A Mustang that's been in an accident may be more difficult to sell.

Everyone, thanks for your posts.
Because if you involve your insurance company, even if they eventually collect from hers, its a claim on your insurance and will cost YOU in the long run. You do not want claims on your insurance, save that for when YOU screw up, not her.

The fact that the car becomes harder to sell to the buyers looking for the best cars is precisely why it is worth less after repair, thus your loss for diminished value.

Sorry to hear your Mustang was damaged in an accident like mine. Well, let's hope they do an excellent job repairing our Mustangs. I've been kinda pissed and depressed about it, but I'm getting over it. Whaddaya gonna do? That's life.

It doesn't take a lot of speed to cause a lot of damage. The woman that hit me wasn't going very fast.

Thanks for your post and I hope your Mustang has a smooth repair.

jcthorne, thanks for your reply.

I talked with an insurance adjuster from my company. She agrees with the concept or "diminished value", but said I don't have that coverage.

I talked with the insurance company of the woman who hit my Mustang. They are taking full liability. They're paying 100% including deductible. Their adjuster argued the concept of diminished value with me. When I persisted he said their company will consider it when auditing the claim. Sounds like I will not be getting a check from them to cover diminished value.

I'm considering taking the woman to small claims court for diminished value. I don't know if that will be successful. I'd have to substantiate my diminished value assertion with some evidence I believe.
