I noticed on my GT that whenever I turn the wheel I hear this loud clank. So finally I brought it in thinking all it would need is to be greased. Well they told me that I need two new upper strut bearings and that they would have to order them because they don't stock them. Has anyone else had a problem like this with the clank when turning?? I only have 1800 miles on it.

yep. but i haven't had it inspected. my problem is a little more intermittent though. it doesn't happen every time i turn and seems to be a little more frequent in colder weather. slightly under 1500 miles. Question though, did they say that it's something that you need to take care of? in other words, if gone untreated would the problem become worse and possibly lead to further problems?

I didn't ask them what would happen if I just left it, however my feeling is the car is brand new and under warranty so might as well get it fixed.

I have almost 5,000 miles on mine, and every so often it will make the same "clunk" sound you guys are talking about. I haven't taken mine in to the dealer yet, that's all I need is for some punk to say he needs to take it for a test drive to see if he can hear it, and leave 2 black marks as he pulls out of the service department.

I will be taking mine in though. I am waiting to Ford to make an announcement of some kind so I can go in and get it done fairly quickly.

I've had both mine replaced and the clunk is gone...it does however take awhile to get the part..Took my Dealer 6 days to get the parts, So my car sat there a week..Best way is to have your dealer order the part and take it in when the parts get there less down time..Best to get it in and get it done.. No More Worries.. And no More Clunks

Hey Tracy Did they have to do a front end alignment when they finished installing the new bearings? They told me to come back next week to have them installed.

Bullitt- I told my dealer that they could only take my car out if I go with them, and they didn't have a problem with that... you should do the same thing!

Hope the new struts fix this issue. Hopefully was just some rare issue and won't happen to everyone, sorry to hear. Keep us updated on the issue.

Mine has the occasional clunk during turns but it has zero regularity. God knows I'd be the dumb chick at the service center with a made up noise.

You mean to say, you don't type funny.

But really, all you have to say is "it's making noise when I do "x" can you check it out?" That's their job so I'm sure they will.

Mine has only ever made the noise once. If it happens again I will bring it in to have it looked at but that was over 3,000 miles ago.

Mine has a clunking noise when turning too. Now that I am unemployed, I have plenty of time to stop by the dealer and have them fix it.
