A buddy of mine sent me this e-mail :

'Ford Racing Mustang GT race cars finish 1-2 in Grand-Am Cup 200 at Daytona International Speedway'

Mustang GT wins at Daytona

With less than one day's experience behind the wheel of his new Ford Racing Mustang GT race car, car owner and driver Tom Nastasi, with co-driver Ian James, claims victory in the opening race of the 2005 Grand-Am Cup season at Daytona International Speedway. The win marks the first race and first win for Ford Racing's Mustang GT race car built off the new 2005 Mustang GT.

-anyone have anymore info on this?

I wonder how many other cars it was competing against? Doesn't say so in the article.

Wonder if this is the same white GT that was featured in the Discovery Channel segment featuring a joint venture between Ford Racing and a Canadian company in developing the 'Boy Racer'.

Not that it matters a ton, but I wish they would include information about what year the cars are, because obviously some of the Mustangs are not 05s, since some of them were SVTs.

In case you are interested, the lead engineer on the Boy Racer Project at Multimatic was recently hired to replace Coletti at SVT. His name is Jay O'Connell. He had previously worked for Ford on Jaguar F1 and CART programs. He left Ford to go to Multimatic and is now back with SVT. Jay was also the guy responsible for the FR500 and the FR200 cars developed with Ford Racing a few years back. This should be good news for SVT.
