I agree with Johnny (Clutch) on everything, I was at the show saturday and got a good look at all of the ponycars.

That soft dash cap is hopefully easily replaced, i'll look at switching the one on the GT if it is affordable.

Isn't the GT dash $1,500.00 to replace? I can imagine how much the leather one will be.

I'll have to go back and check, but, I don't think the red is avail as a stripe color. White, blue, silver and gray were the only I remember.
I don't think that it is an option from the factory, but there is always aftermarket. Maybe you can drive over and have a vinyl guru install them.

From what we've read, the clutch is no heavier than the stock GT for feeling. (Hydro-assisted)
and the shifting feels tight and short throws (not sure any shorter than the GT)

DEFINATELY a lot better than the previous gen. cobra's I'm sure.
nooo, 5.0 SF drove it and said it felt rubbery just like the GT, which is typical of the 05

Yeah, heck, it's only cross-continent - good excuse for a "break-her-in" road trip!

Fraid I'm not feelin' white with red stripes, though - too garish for my tastes. I actually wouldn't even consider white (personally don't like it at all on the GT) if it weren't for the blue stripes.

I also think the metallic colors (like Tungsten) will stand up better over time than the flat enamel colors.

Decisions, decisons...

Well at least in the 05 you can reach it - the previous gens you had to reach out into the next state/province to get your hand around the shifter. So either way, the ergonomics are going to be a lot better.

I don't mind if the shifter "feels" like the 05 GT - I just don't want to feel like I'm doing a leg press when I depress the clutch. That gets old in a hurry in city driving.

Agreed, I like the darker colors myself and the white with red is too much for me. I like subtle things that are not readily noticeable.

1) The Challenger is much better looking in person than in pics.

2) The Camaro is a lot worse looking than in the pics.

3) And the Shelby....

For those that have not seen the GT500 in person, prepare to be blown away by the cars stance and ride height. Together, much better than the GT/V6. You won't believe it when you see one next to a GT.....pics do not do the difference justice.

Brad made mention that the cobra on the rear medallion in 3-D. Looks great! What I didn't catch was the 3 dimensional cobras in the grill and fenders. They are kind of twisted, and just not 3-D in the sense they stick out from the car. Very classy.

If you're getting the vert, the red seat inserts still do not match the red paint. Be careful there.

Lastly, don't even think about ordering this car without the leather dash.......you'll be disappointed. The regular dash in the vert did not do this car justice.

Sitting in the GT500 convertible was a dream come true. Overall this car scores a 9/10.
Just got back myself and I couldn't have put it any better. The stance is definitely awesome in person and the emblems definitely portray some good "Attitude" while staying classy.

Does anyone know if Ford will be producing the Shelby just in 2007 (very limited), or will they be producing a 2008, 2009, etc. to let many of us get a chance at buying one.

Thanks. I've searched everywhere for production numbers and forecasts, etc. I heard from 7,500 to 10,000 to be produced, but is that just for 2007?

Last numbers I got from SVT were 9000-13,000 per year.

I heard 3 years, but, cannot confrim that.

Thanks! Maybe there's still time to be like the rest of the suckers and get on some long list, after shelling out some ridiculous 'deposit'.

:w00t:

One sucker right here! I just haven't made a deposit yet, the dealerships I am in contact with do not want one until the order banks open.

I honestly don't think there is any reason to panic. HTT said they would try to combat AMV by keeping up with production demand.

I'll second that. It's the people who just have to have it RIGHT NOW who are going to suffer the most and get the shaft from dealers.

For everyone else, I wouldn't sweat it as long as they're still being produced. If you wait til the last model year, on the other hand, then you'll have to act fast.

But I would count on at least two...very possibly three years of production. I can't think of the last time Ford or any other manufacturer only produced a model for one year - you can't feasibly amortize the R&D, tooling and manufacturing costs in just one year.

I've talked to three or more SVT reps and they have all said 2 years with a possible 3rd.

If you have the time then you can get it at MSRP eventually. I'm hoping that one of the dealers I am working with will give me MSRP from the start....but I am not holding my breath.

This car can't come soon enough. I'm going to see it Friday in Detroit. I bet the fever gets worse after I see it in person
