The author was just expressing his enthusiasm for the new Stang. You guys need to lighten up a bit.

The only articles stretched more than that are the articles about imports in those car magazines.
Those are the worst, It dumbfounds me how overrated imports can be.

What it DOES mean, is that road tests should show up in print next month.

That's the only thing I'm worried about...this man's credibility as a car critic. Hopefully he has done this before, because if he has I see good things coming Ford's way. It would be really nice to see that the new Mustang, although not perfect, will make a huge impact on today's society once more and reign supreme as the car of the year. Wishful thinking?...maybe, but I can dream. B)

Nice review. I also think that the Ferrari reference is a stretch, but hey I can't blame him since he went into it liking Mustangs (just like many of us). His review makes me think it will out-perform other cars in it's price range, and be really fun to drive - cool !!!. Thanks for finding and posting the article
Sounds like a human review to me, Instead of shrewd Saab fanatic C&D review.

Hes from the era where real Ferraris have the V12 up front. [/b][/quote]
Doesn't Ferrari have a new car, 612 I think, that's like the old Ferrari GTO with a foward engine? Anyway, I like the sarcasm in the article. It's funny but he ain't a true auto reviewer. It's obvious from the way he rights. I love that C&D comment made by Kev. Car & Driver are ******. They dare rate a S2000 and a Miata over a hipo kit cobra. They have no taste :notnice: . Atleast they can admit that a Lotus Elise is 'slightly' better than their precious Honda....

I'd rather hear an article from a person who isnt predisposed to love japaneese cars. Beats having an import freak do nothing but write down power-to-weight figures and gas mileage arguements.

Kev I agree...

who better to review a Mustang than someone who actually likes them.

Re-read the article and he plainly states that he is not an auto critic. He's writing a conversational guy-themed column. I'm sure he's never driven a Ferarri (as most people haven't), nor does he likely understand all that goes into the refinement of a lexus to understand that the new Mustang is a Conestoga wagon compared to the Lexus in terms of luxury and build quality (I'm exaggerating for the sake of conversation, please don't argue with me on this), but that's not the point of the article. The point is that this is a guy that has a nostalgic soft spot for Mustangs. His journalistic ego isn't dependent on shredding everything he drives so that the sheep that read his opinion can be impressed and influenced by his "cheap plasticky interior" comment.

I thought it was a good read.

Let's not forget the ever-popular hp/liter argument! At least the import crowd can't brag anymore about how variable cam timing makes their Civics superior.

I too would much rather hear from a Mustang enthusiast about the new one. Since he already knows the standard it must live up to I think he would feel compelled to let us know if it lives up to it or not. I love the car and have never laid eyes on anything but the pictures. Can't wait to see them. Thanks for the article!

I agree with you treadhead. Because the reviewer is a Mustang fan, it increases the chance that I will like the car every bit as much as he does.

I don't care if he is exagerating. The important point is how much fun he had driving it. I look forward to having just as much fun!!!! :drive:

That's awesome. I love his "review" because he talks about the part that matters the most about cars... How much FUN it is to drive! I can't believe people were picking it apart because it "sounded" like he hadn't done this before... well, durr, he did say he wasn't an auto critic. That's like reading the little "moviegoer quick reviews" in the paper where readers get to review a movie they saw in 200 words or less, and calling them out on not reviewing the acting craft and cinematography of the movie. He wrote that he liked the car a lot and that was the only point of the article. Sheesh.

On a side note, which magazine typically has the closest specs to reality from their personal road test... i.e. 0-60, 1/4-mile, g's, etc.?

Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords manages to wring the most out of their tests. (best times)

Motor Trend can't seem to get within 3 or 4 tenths of the MM&FF times, but they are consistent in their slowness, so worth checking out.

so what if he might not have ever driven a ferrari or whatever. it just sounds like a car nut like the rest of us. and sounds to me like he is just as excited about the car as we are. and it sounds like he was not dissapointed with the car in the least bit. and ferrari has always had a car with the V12 under the hood. etc. the modena and enzo arent GT style cars like the 550 Maranello and the 612 Scagliatti with the engine upfront

Don Hudson???? I think he does the home and garden article...did just about the same writeup on the new 12HP John Deere a little while ago. Just kidding, his daily driver is probably a Ford Fiesta, so the Mustang would feel like a Ferrari and a Lexus.

hmmmm, the only thing that destroys his credibility is...he's a journalist ^_^

...if its 2/10s as good as he, uh, writes, its a good sign.
