If you can figure out a way to relocate the battery to the trunk, you might want to consider one of these: http://www.enersys.com/defense/armasafe.asp
Easily twice the capacity of most auto batteries. The negative aspect is cost and weight.

It's what they use in tacticool vehicles. You can shoot 7.62/.308 through one and it will keep trucking. It's easily twice the capacity of most automotive batteries. I think our GT's got spec'd with Mazda6 batteries or other smaller batteries suited for smaller cars. My Crown Vic has a larger Group 65, but that still pales in comparison to a 6T (NATO size).
If the 6T AGM doesn't work out, switch to this bad boy:

250+ A-h, about 5-6 times the capacity of most car batteries. If the 8D doesn't help you out with electricity, then the worst that can happen is you added almost 200 lb to the rear of the car.

Heck when we were very young ones, we used to do clutch repairs etc. in the driveway of a very understanding adult friend. This while laying on sheets of cardboard placed between the jackstands hoping it would not rain! Ah youth! Don't really care to back there again. CalStang

It has always bugged me that the first sign of a bad battery is being stranded. Gotta be a better way.
And there is...car makers just haven't done it. My $100 cell phone can tell me when my battery is weak. Come on, Ford!

Just replaced the battery in my 07, now I'm getting a "Check Charging System" message occasionally, anybody else experienced this? The shop says they checked the alternator when they replaced the battery.

I'm on my 3rd battery. I even had a Red Top Optima go bad after 2 years 9 months. Got it replaced for free back around Christmas. My car sits alot so it doesn't surprise me about my batteries but there seems to be a 'battery' theme with these cars.

The battery was replaced on 1 June and I drove the car to work the next day with no problems. It has sat in the garage since then. Decided to drive it to work today, and it was dead again. I guess it will get taken back to the dealership for further diagnostics, but I am betting they just tell me to start it up at least once a week. What are the odds that the battery is no good after just 17 days?

My stock battery finally gave out this weekend after 4 years. Not a DD and always have a Battery Tender hooked up.
Replaced with a DieHard Gold, $105, 8 year warranty.

A lot of the symptoms S197 owners mention suggest a malfunction SJB. A co-worker bought a brand new 2010 Edge and within 4k miles, she had to get the power distribution box replaced because it was flaking out. Fords have a history with electrical problems!
