Ford Motor Company was started with the idea of having an affordable vehicle in every driveway. The Ford GT, while nice, seemed to go against the grain of Henry Ford's vision. However, the S-197 GT and the Shelby GT500 have this vision in the spirit of the car. 300 hp, 0-60 in under 6 seconds, 1/4 mile in the 13s, bone stock for $24k-$25k new (stripper GT Deluxe). It's quite difficult to find another car with similar factory warrantied performance characteristics that can be bought at that price off the showroom floor. I'm open to either setup (IRS or live-axle) so long as it is durable. Didn't the 1999 Cobra have IRS? I recall reading about someone's 99 Cobra (on Corral) losing the IRS on the highway and having his Cobra wrapped around a telephone pole.
Yes, yes, we hear those old arguments about "cheap, crude & reliable" time and time and time again, but I wonder - can you name me ONE other performance GT automobile in the world that still uses a solid rear axle?

And if not, then why not?

Now THAT'S a bloody good idea! Let's have at it then.

I can't name any off the top of my head, but the GT500's MSRP is also generally less expensive than other RWD/V8 performance cars with comparable engine outputs.

I watched some of the video this morning (causing me to get into work alittle late... oops) and had to keep from laughing the entire time. He does like the Roush Stage 3, though pitting it vs a Lotus is alittle one sided.

I'll let you in on a little secret: It's because they don't exist.

It's because the show, Top Gear, which he is one of the hosts of, is god **** fantastic. Our media doesn't have the stones to do a show like that. They do real tests and reviews of cars and they have fun doing it. What do we get here? Fluff. He may be wrong sometimes, but at least he has an opinion.

Which is pretty much what they think about us.

So who's right?

Depends upon your perspective.

Meanwhile, Top Gear is the greatest show on television!

Neither is right. To group a country or race or whatever and say that they are "morons" or whatever really smacks of racism to me. Although we're not talking races it's the same principal.

No...we're talking about Clarkson and his extreme bias toward American cars.

His review of the Z06 cracked me up. The entire segment, he was saying how great a car it is. Then at the end of the review, he said it was a piece of s***.
