btw: if you know Mustang's can "put down some serious numbers" please feel free to explain why you cite the Skyline's ability to make 1500hp on pump gas as a reason why a Mustang just CANNOT be built to contend with the Nissan. I am dieing to hear this one.[
"You're talking about a motor that holds 1400rwhp on stock internals... I wouldn't compare it to a Mustang. Apples vs. oranges IMO." (which this quote turned out to be false anyway)
I never said a Mustang couldn't be built to contend with the Nissan, don't read so much into it.

Fair enough.

does anyone remember the Datsun Z? The japanese Muscle Car!
I love this car :P

Muscle Car? NOOOOO! That sports car along with MG BGT or the TR-6, the Tiger XKE, Corvette and Cobra, etc... the 60's and 70's GTO, Roadrunners, Torino Cobra Jet, some Nova's & the 442 to name a few were muscle cars. The Mustang is the last pony car, sure it can play and win with both the "sports cars" and the "muscle cars" but it's a pony part sports, part muscle, and never forget part grocery getter.

This is an unbiased opinion, the 350Z handles better than the 05 Mustang GT, hands down,
Im sorry but theres no Hands down about this at all, the numbers done say its a "hands down" on either case. The edge goes to the Z but the 05 GT can keep up just fine.

Keeping up isn't the same as beating. I've driven both and the 350Z felt like it turned a lot better. That's my experience, no doubting that.

I own a 350z, it probably turns a bit better but in all honesty its a drivers race for the most part. The 05 is probably 50x better in the corners than the 04. Through the corners the Z should be quicker but the 05 isnt going to fall behind enough to where the Z is going to pull away.

The Grand Am victory says otherwise. Its not just about the type of rear end, its about a complete package of components throughout the entire chassis.

WOW!, Akurei14 did you just say there will be a new camaro? Because you are sadly mistaken my friend, there is no camaro, and none to come out anytime soon.
Wrong, Chevy is coming out with another pony/sports car 2-door coupe and priced between 20-30k. Delphi is working on a project for them called "MY2007". Rumored to be on the Zeta chassis and using a 5.3 V8, RWD.

Sorry dude. Lutz killed the Zeta. Done. I was looking forward to a new MaroBird and a reignition of the pony wars too.

Nissan especially, with the 350Z sharing the same basic chassis as various V8 powered models, doesn't pop one into the Z or Infiniti G coupe? A nice 450Z sporting some 350hp, all with the agile Z chassis?
That 5.6 from the Titan would be nice, 300hp with 385 glorious ft/lbs of torque, maybe trade a bit of torque for some HP, not to much, just a smidge.

That was the most uneducated remark I ever read. The Miata has IRS, last time I checked I can run circles around them at the track, it is not all in the rear suspention, tires, hp, weight distribution, shocks, springs, you name it they all are factors in what will make a car out handle another car, I know for a fact that my old mustang that had all the maximummotorsports suspention would out "handle" a 04 cobra, but gee wiz I didn't have IRS, just the best live axle suspention you could get for a fox.
Go buy a Z and leave this MUSTANG site if you think a 350z will run circles around a GT mustang, and when you get it look me up so I can spank you with my live axle

oh and one more thing Richard Holdener from MM&FF did a 20.8 lb turbo upgrade to a 2001 Cobra ran it with 114 octain gas and got 990hp with the stock internals.

"While we were impressed with the power output at 11 psi, we continued by upping the boost pressure to 13.6 psi where the twin-turbo engine thumped out 830 hp and 756 lb-ft of torque. This thing just seemed to be getting happier and happier with each turn of the screw. With our air/fuel and timing still well within safety levels (combined with the safety of 114-octane fuel), we pushed on to 16.2 psi. Now things were getting serious, as the 4.6-liter produced 891 hp and 815 lb-ft of torque."

"Our final effort brought the boost pressure to 20.8 psi and the power to an incredible 990 hp, while the peak torque stood at 911 lb-ft. Remember that all this is from an engine that displaces just 281 ci. Turbos rule!"

Quad-Cam Crate Upgrade, Richard Holdener, Super Rod Magazine, November 2004.

SO for all the Mustang haters on this Mustang forum get your sh*t straight these are cars to be reconed with

i like that...
actually not that anyone cares but datsun came from nissan not being sure how people would react to a sporty car (Z) and if it was a huge disaster it would be no big deal if it didn't have the nissan name plate... little tid bit of usless info
