Got down to about 12 miles to empty and my fuel gauge on dash went totally RED- thought that was pretty cool, an extra warning your baby needs more fuel

This doesn't sound like the sort of thing to experiment with just to see what color it turns. If my wife starts driving ours regularly - I'm sure we will find out eventually! <_<

That makes me nervous to let the fuel guage go that low. My boyfriend is always taunting me about low he can go. We haven't run out of gas yet, but I know it's gonna happen one of these days.

Only have about 180 miles on my car, dealer filled up when I got it Monday. On the way to work today I noticed it said 18 Miles to empty!! I was like huh! lol look at gauge and reads over 1/4 tank. Later I took a spin it was fine. I dunno brushed it off as system learning.

You can run it down to 10 miles to empty and have the fuel gauge showing about almost even with empty, and the car still will have a gallon of gas or two. Ford tends to tolerance the gauges so theres always about 50 miles worth of gas still in them without having to worry. This is true for several Fords I have driven.
The color change is a nice reminder though.
