Quick question. How is the interior noise in the 05 compared to earlier models?

 

Much Much better in my opinion. There is minimal air noise compared with previous models I've had.

New weather strips is the cure.

 

I personally thought the interior was a little loud (I didn't have a previous version to know). They definitely let the bass of the GT through, and the motor in general. I didn't notice exterior sounds, just motor sounds -- which isn't all bad. (That was just on a test drive).

 

Compared to my '02 GT, my '05 GT is much improved in terms of interior quietness. There's still some engine and outside noise, but mostly just the sweet sounding exhaust note.

 

Just motor sounds. It is great, and I can't hear outside at all.

 

My '99 sounded like the passenger's door was open it was so noisy. I saw some magazine pics showing how Ford saved weight on the '99 and later SN95's by strategic placment of sound deadener, rather than over an entire panel. Getting rid of the factory Goodyears and going to some Firestone SZ50EP's was a big improvement.
