It looks kinda cheap. And the finish looks like they spray painted it with a rattle can.

Many of these type of covers are plastic, those who wait for a metal cover could be waiting for a long time. We don't know that Ford will ever do this and that means that no other manufacturer can use the real running horse or the real GT. Note that this GT is not the same as on the car, the letters are not connected at the top.

PonyGirl, I might be in as well but need some more information. I also would probably want the GT left off so I could apply an emblem of my choice (horse or GT from fender).

Also interested in knowing more about having it painted the same color as the car. What is their paint process and what is the warranty protection on that paint (don't want it heating up and peeling off). In fact, is there any kind of warranty? Some more closeup pictures would be helpful.

Thanks for doing this for all of us! Drew

I really dont like this one, but at least its good to know people or working on those things. I was most bummed when that didnt make production. They need to make it look more like the ones from Ford. I would definatley get one if they could make a better copy. Good Find!

All your questions about how do they on, "GT" delete, available for V6, Painting process, Pricing, warranty, and more will be posted tomarrow. I am waiting for them to email me back. And will let you know.

About having them painted, I know you can have it painted to match your car, so that would include all 2005 color choices.

Whether you order "GT", "PLAIN" "PAINTED" or other, it will all be included in the special pricing for a group buy. Painted will costs a bit more, and all pricing info will be posted tomarrow.

Thanks for your show of interest.

Depending on the final price, I might be in if they'll sell me one without the GT on it.

I would not use the Emblems from the fenders on these covers..They dont like heat very well..I used a hair drier set on low to help remove the rear Emblem so I could put my stripes on, and it blistered it very badly..My old one is now a ornament for my Christmas tree... I dont think they will take the heat under the hood..just something to think about..

I'm definitely going to get one of these covers. I liked the running horse on the show car intake cover, but I'd settle for the one with "GT" on it for now!

Ok, this is the info I have as of today.

I talked to them is this is what I have so far:

The ones they are selling on Ebay ( the ones pictured) are indeed the fiberglass prototype ones. They are 2 weeks away from having a molded piece made from a durable, heat resistant nylon plastic which will keep the heat issue under control (paintable material.) Those are the ones we would be setting up a group buy for. Looks like the photos posted, but a different tougher material.

You will have the option from "GT", or "GT delete" Those that choose the delete will have the possible option of having the "GT" or "running pony EMBLEM added to it or keeping it plain.

The color options are silver, black or color coded & clear coated to match your car color. All 2005 colors will be available. The paint is heat resistant and will not peal. Silver and Black are standard and color matching is an added option with additional costs.

Pricing to be emailed to me tomarrow ( I hope) . it will definetly be lower then what they offer it for on Ebay. Pre Orders will be taken for the group buy price, and once the hard nylon plastic ones comes out in a few weeks, I can post a picture of one on a Mustang for those to look at.
I know most of you want to see the picture first, so pre orders will stay open until we all have a chance to view the final deal.

I will be getting one painted in screaming yellow with the 2005 "GT" emblem on it. I will post pics as soon as I have it on. ( will be end of April most likely).

I have also talked to them about working together on having the chrome bezels made for tail lights, fog lights, and shifter pad ( for manual & Automatic).

I will repost this issue once the hard plastic nylon one is finished. In the meantime, if you have questions, please ask. have ideas, please post, but most of all, keep an open mind until you see the finished product.

I have told them all of yur concerns you have posted here, and they are eager to make a product that most of us would be happy with and proud to have on our Mustangs.

The fiberglass ones are nice for those who want to buy it now, but if you choose to wait for the other ones, I think you will be very pleased with the results.

Thank you! More info to come in the next few days!!

I saw that auction on Ebay the other day and added it to my favorites list. I have a Satin Silver GT so the silver is fine with me. Let us know the price and I'm in! BTW, thanks for starting this thread, it could save us all a bunch of money
