Just curious if any other insurance companies have reduced the rates of the GT using exactly the same driver criteria etc... I will call Progressive in a couple of days to confirm the quoted price. Roughly $300/year is a big difference in my opinion!

Below are 2 identical Quotes from Progressive.com on the Mustang GT using my credit score and same Zip code. Am I missing something in these quotes as to why they are different?

Bodily Injury and Prop Damage Liability:20/40/15 (State Minimum)
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury:$20,000 person/$40,000 accident
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Property Damage 15,000 (with $250 Deductible)
Medical Payments coverage: None
Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage:2,500 Limit

Comprehensive coverage: $500 Deductible
Collision coverage: $500 Deductible
Rental Reimbursement coverage: No coverage
Towing and Labor coverage: No coverage
Loan/Lease Payoff coverage: No coverage .
Total $771.50/6 months dated October 6, 2004

Wow, that is a big difference! I guess maybe people haven't been wreaking them as fast as the insurance companies thought? Is that why the rates are lower?

Wow, that's interesting. I was concerned that rates would actually go up, because perhaps the early quotes were based on the 2004 instad of the 2005 with more HP.

State Farm told me V6 or V8 didn't matter; their quotes were based on hard top vs convertible.

I'll get a new quote after the first of the year, closer to delivery date.

Anyone else have their quote / rates decrease??

Wow, you've got me scared! My current rate for 100/300 for my wife's Civic and my Jeep Wrangler COMBINED is $526/6mo. I think rates have gone down recently though. I just switched companies and saved a bunch! Very surprising, because with all the hurricanes I expected my rates to soar, not drop!

Don't worry too much...mine's about $800/6 months on 2 cars, 2 drivers (05 Mustang GT and 99 Volvo...my wife and I)...we just turned 25, and we live in one of the most expensive insurance states.

I wish I only paying what you all are. I'm 25 with one point on my license but I did total a car last year. I'll be paying about 2700 a year to drive a GT Stang and that was based on 04 numbers.

I'm an insurance broker in NJ and we recently received updated symbols for new vehicles... I was shocked when I saw that the symbols for the 2005 Mustang (both the V6 and GT) were a few numbers lower than the symbols from 2004. The 2004 GT was a symbol 22 and if I remember correctly the symbol for the 2005 GT is a 19. The 2004 V6 was a symbol 17 and the 2005 V6 is a 15. If you got a quote a few months ago it will definitely be lower now. (I can only speak for NJ though )

So, they did get lower symbols causing my rates on the quotes to drop! I am in Harris Counry, Texas, which isn't that cheap but not near as bad as NJ/NY. Thanks for the clarification, Sheri24.

I'm here in South Florida and use Progressive. LOVE the company. Dealing with them is so easy and they are very responsive and helpful.

I tried the online rate quote change - but the didn't have the '05 Mustang on their car selection drop down menu! (Guess cause its so new..)

So I sent en email to a rep listing out my shortened commute distance (moving closer to work come Jan - dropping from 25 miles to about 12), listed out EVERY single secutirty feature of the new GT and added the fact that it will be stored in an alarmed garage.

I currently have a 2000 Escort ZX2 and pay about $615 every six months.

When the rep wrote me back, I jumped for joy - my premium went up by a whopping $18.

And here I was figuring my budget for next year and planning for a jump somehwere to around $700-800 each six months.

I got a quote before I took delivery of $837. About a month later, when I took delivery, I called again to set it up. It went down to $793. Then I decided to keep my T-bird as a beater, and it went down to $740.

If you got the insurance at the higher rate before true 2005 rates were out, and paid the higher rate, will you now get a refund or is it the rate at the time of sign up?
