Insurance prices
Hi, i've been reading this board for a while now, finally decided to sign up and make my first post. Like the rest of you, I cannot wait to see the 05 in person and get behind the wheel.
I was just wondering what are the usual differences in insurance prices between the v6 and the gt? I know alot depends on the drivers age, history, ect, but i'm looking for an estimate. thanks in advance.

Last year my husand was contemplating purchasing a 2003 SVT Mustang. So I called our insurance guy at State Farm and there was no difference in price from the regular Mustang (I do not remember if it was GT or not) and the SVT - despite the difference in vehicle price and *ahem* MPH potential.
If only we could use Hagerty insurance for all of our cars!!

Probably depends on your age as well as your insurer. If you're between 25-55, it may not make so much difference, as multimediageek says. When I got my Trans Am I was younger than that, and not only did State Farm jack up the rates because it was the V8-equipped model, they freaked out even more when they saw "RAM AIR" on the vehicle designation. Bah.
Hey, where are my manners? Welcome to the forum!

I've got 2 tickets and my ins on my honda v6 is $1500 a year. I'm 25 and one of those tickets (for cutting off a cop car) is falling off next month. I'm told on my 26th birthday my rates are going to drop significantly. Yay.

the insurance companies are terrible here... they recently were crying poor but then reported a 250% profit increase...

I'm 37. Quote for Cobra $600/yr.

Encompass.
No tickets, no accid, it would be a third vehicle (my p/u, wifes minivan)
That was quoted last fall, don't know if it has changed since.
Our insurance rates changed considerably when my husband turned 25 and when we got married. Now we are in our late 30s with no accidents or tickets - so I suppose our rates are good for State Farm - I'm sure there are other less expensive insurance carriers.
And anyone that has an older Mustang that is not a "daily driver" (example: you only take your car to car shows or out on the weekends) I recommend definately look into Hagerty Insurance!! They specialize in classic cars and base their prices on what the car is really worth (an appraisal might be a good investment). Our two '67 Mustangs cost us only $400.00 per year to insure.

state farm seems to have been going up 15% a year for the last few yrs... and i have no tickets or accidents, have been with them for 16 yrs. no claims at all since 1992 and they screwed me on that one. basically extortion.
State Farm has been going up all right. I'd never had a ticket or accident in my life, and instead of my rates going down, they went up. Every year. I dumped them and went elsewhere...of course, at the company I went to, I've had questionable customer service. Go fig...
Just got my first ticket a couple months ago for something really stupid -- entering a left turn lane too early (while the pavement was still striped). They had a police stakeout pulling over dozens of people for the same infraction at the same intersection -- even one of those non-emergency medical transports, for crying out loud. Fortunately Florida allows you to do "traffic school" on the Internet so you can keep the points off your record.

Well I'm going to get done with no spit and no lube because I'm: 18, 19 when I get my hands on it, Male, Black, and Driving a performance car. So I'm not even pressed, I'm not driving a Civic just because the feds are stupid...

I have Encompass insurance and I asked for a quote yesterday. I'm 36, no tickets and no accidents. It would be a second car to replace an old pickup.
04 Mustang GT $958.00/yr
04 Cobra $1,240.00/yr
I asked them why it was so much and they said that it was because it was a performance car. It's also strange because some insurance companys seem to regard rural areas as a greater risk than urban areas.
BTW, our Lincoln is $788.00/yr and it is rated at 252hp while the 04 Mustang GT is rated at 260hp.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Call me toll free 1-877-367-3847 ex. 3053 11:00-8:00 eastern standard time John Tony Williams. I will be more than happy to give you a quote on any type of insurance you would like. I work for Ford Motor company Insurance. Average savings is $350 a yr. If you have purchased a Ford recently, you should have, or will be getting a notice in the mail to give us a call. Just have your existing policy handy and call me up!
