Installing longer wheel studs
Installing longer wheel studs
Anyone here has a method to install new wheel studs.
I need to install longer wheel stud to accomodate my spacers.
I know that some people are using a old nut and some washers to pull the stud with an air gun. I don't really like that method cause I'm affraid to damage the threads.
Is there any other method or tool easy or readily available ?
Thanks,

It's safe, although some would probably argue. But on the car? Probably the easiest best way. If you properly thread the nut on there and also *SEAT* the nut on the washer, and therefore the washer on the hub, then there is no danger. You can also avoid paranoia by doing it by hand with a socket until it becomes unbearable, and then a breaker bar... but honestly, you just gotta do it, it's not that huge a deal. here's another one:
He takes a LOOONG time to get there, but he does it too... and really does explain it well. And then he goes the extra distance using a C Clamp.

Oh yeah, and you may want to use a throw away lug nut for the 'pressing' part of the job.
Of course, removal of the hub and all that is the best way and such... but I'm sure you are also trying to avoid disassembling the axle and stuff, yeah?

Thanks, I think I'll try pulling it with a nut.
I just need to find my old ones so I don't damage my actual ones. I may go to the store and see if I could find a longer one with more thread to better distribute the stress on more threads...
