Installed New Grill

Well, I finally broke down and installed a new grill. I really like the looks. Very retro. PM me for who I bought it from if you're interested, though installation proved to be more intensive than advertised - it still wasn't bad.

Let me know what you think, and if I should get the lower billet girll, I'm still on the fence. I thought it would be too much billet, but I may change my mind.

Sorry for the bad pic, will put more up tonight.

Wow, that looks good! I like how the foglights are still used, I would hate to remove mine.

I am thinking of doing the same kind of grille but my car is Satin Silver, so it may be too much "silver".

I like it! Good choice on the tri-bar pony as well. As far as the lower grille goes, I think it looks a little empty right now, so you may want to give it a try and see what it looks like at least.

Is that an overlay or an actual replacement grille? Also, it looks as if the center portion is not quite as recessed as the end portions, or is that just the picture?

I've been thinking about getting one of these, so I look forward to more pics!

Its just a trick with the lights. I really hate the one with the attemped cutout around the pony, but the one that deletes it looks good I'd leave the mouth in the bumper alone IMO. Too much will take away from the stripes. The lower opening enhances the contrast as it does at the dark windshield.

I think it looks too 'happy' with the lower grilles anyway. The mouth keeps it looking mean.

Ok, good repsonse to this one, guess I did good. First off, it is an overlay. This initially turned me off, but I decided I'd give it a shot. To sum it up: it gets as much if not more air than stock, and you cannot see ANY of the orginial grill through it even up close. The whole grill is gel coated (I'm guessing gel, feels that way) jet black except for the front. So it makes an illusion from most any viewing angle. Second - this is a real quality piece ... I was sceptical because of the price - but this thing is solid, and deep. And Third, the sides are the same depth as the middle - it's a combination of the camera angle (mostly) and the fact that if you look at the stock grill, our lights are infact out a little more on one side than they are the other. Either way it looks REALLY good in person - better than it does in the pictures.

Oh, and as to the pony - it was my own special concotion. It's actually a fender badge from a pony package v-6 (widely available)

I cut a retangular piece of metal the same size as the emble, and stuck it to it. I then welded (well, JBwelded) two bolts sticking straight back from that. Then I cut another piece of metal the same size as the first one, drilled two holes in it, and used it to sandwich the logo onto the grill.

Ok, so maybe it wasn't done in that order - but that was the method used. Worked really well.

I think it looks great, I am planning on getting the same grille. Where did you get yours and how easy did it mount over the pony on the original grill? Did you have to shave the original grille any?
TIA
