not another 18" wheel debate :bang:

Dano, what kevin means, is if the fanblades cost the same as aftermarket, would you spend the money on them?

I personally see kevin's point, if the fanblades will cost the same as a set of other wheels which will let me stand out, I would rather get the aftermarkets.
Yah, good luck with that. Aftermarkets will cost more than the stock 18's. Probably 1.5 times as much. Similar situation with tires. [/b][/quote]
Dan,

unless Ford offers some kind of deal, have you ever checked how much they charge for wheels? amazingly huge price.

Maybe get one of the aftermarket "knock offs" and save some money.

I think the thing that confuses everyone here is that Ford charges the DIFFERENCE between the stock rims and the "upgrade" ones. They aren't going to sell you a set of 18" rims for $300-400... they'll sell you the 18"s for $300-400 MORE than the stock rims.

All I'm saying is that there is no way Ford can charge you as much as they want in the aftermarket.

A really nice set of aftermarket rims are like $300-$350 US EACH!!

That's $1200-$1400 for a set US$. And that's WITHOUT tires.

My point is this: if you don't want to spend as much money, wait for the factory rims during the time when they are offered with the car &/or make a deal to get them for invoice or so when you purchase your car.

I agree, I'm seriously considering aftermarket rims to be unique. But I'm weighing both options for now.

Dan, call a dealer and ask how much for a single bullitt wheel

I'll be surfing for deals on ebay and maybe come across a cool set of 18's with rubber, the way evil capri (jason) got for his Mach1

I think the bullitts are $150 each... so that would make the upgrade wheels cost $200-250 each... which is pretty standard for "average" aftermarket wheels.

Anything from the manufacturer is always much cheaper. 18" upgrade on F-series FX4 is only $325, as an example. I would suspect that with a lower proffit margin on a Mustang, the option would still only be about $1000-1200. But then you are sill on stockers. The main idea about aftermarket wheels, even in stock sizes, is that you look like you spent money on them. Thats the whole point about aftermarket. Now, when a stock wheel is released for public sale, there are two ways to buy them. If you go to a parts counter and ask for a replacement wheel as a part, it will be VERY expensive(about $350 for a bullitt wheel), it is intended to make money for the shop for a repair. If you source them(even from a parts counter) as an aftermarket part from Ford Racing they will be about $150. Ford Racing is geared up for aftermarket 'hop ups' and retail sales. Dealers tend to also sell entire sets of wheels and tires as 'take offs'. They credit a customer who finances aftermarket wheels a few bucks then sell the set. A full set of these with no mileage bullitts usually sells for about $1000 bucks mounted with tires. Sometimes the factory also sells surplus sets to dealers and aftermarket companies too. If you look hard in any mustang magazine you can find them, this will also happen with every stock 05 mustang wheel as well over time. I am sure 18" wheels and tire take-offs will be much more, about $1800 a set, $2400 for chrome finish wheels(based on cobra "r" sets they sell now). Also, hot-rodders will imediately dump stocker for a nice $5000 forged set, and you can find the stock rims and tires on E-bay a lot of the time too if you are patient. Shop smart, shop S-mart.
