I noticed in my paper this weekend that the dealer was advertising 2004 Mustangs at half off MSRP. They had 10 cars at $11,998 and 20 cars at $12,998. Sounds like a great deal for someone needing a cheap car. Is the 2005 Stang driving the prices this low? This is a Northern VA dealership- are others doing this too?
Curious,
Clay

Yup in CA its the same thing . . . I have seen a few V6's in the 10K range too! . . . It really brought down the price of my 2002 gt that I sold to get my 05 . . . In KBB the high price of wat I shud have gotten for my car was like within 1,000 of what my friend got her 2004 GT at!!!!

Did I read that right? 13,000 for a new '04gt? Or is it just the 6's you are talking about?

I have also seen a lot of discounts on the 2004 Mustangs. I'm a big 2005 fan, but if someone wants to get a new car, and get into the Mustang hobby and has a tight budget, this could be a golden opportunity! It'll still have a 3 year warranty!

Simply a matter of math. The dealers own (have taken loans for) all of the Mustangs on their respective lots. Ford knows that they will not be able to sell cars immediately, so they give the dealer a discount on the price of the car for about 3 months worth of the interest payment on the car. This is called dealer holdback. Any cars sold before this 3 month period elapses is just extra money in their pockets.

The opposite works as well though. Cars that sit for MORE than 3 months start eating into dealership profits. They still hafta pay for the cars like everyone else. This is just made worse by the fact that the 05 Stangs are out and kick hiney. So it eventually gets down to the point where they just eat a loss on the 04 Stangs to get rid of em.

Do you know if any of them have web sites? and if so could you provide the web address.

Something in the back of my head tells me this cannot be so, sounds to good to be true.

Here's a link for you. They're running commercials for 'Loaded Verts w/leather' for $16k and change (v6). Combine it with a vacation to Florida and you'd have one happy new year! This should show you their inventory and you can request a quote. 17hr drive from Canton, OH.
