umm, are ya supposed to stop living life at 34? God forbid ya should enjoy the rewards of the work you've done.

If this is your "mid-life crisis" then its a pretty mild one next to, say, growing a ponytail and buying a crotch rocket when yer 40.

I got the same "midlife crisis" BS too from some people (and I'm only 29), but in my opinion, buying a Harley chopper or a Porsche Boxter and refusing to be seen in the family minivan or MPV anymore is a clear sign of that crisis.
I don't think the Mustang has anything to do with that, it's just a cool car (unlike a Porsche or Ferrari).

Mid life crisis?
Holy cow. I have had mustangs since I was 16. 26 years and counting. You do the math.
Everyone who knows me, knows it's just my passion. He ll, I'm just getting started. I want to get a couple more classic stangs, a mopar and maybe an older vette. I would say that if your 50 to 60 your at mid life, not 30 something.

I have had some sort of Mustang of my own since I was 21 yrs old(34 now). I plan on having one until I leave this ole' place. I don't consider a Mustang a mid-life crisis vehicle. Especially since I have had one since before the "so-called" midlife crisis age.

I'm 43 and I'm ordering an 06 and my old lady thinks I'm gonna cruise around town picking up chicks. I don't blame her for thinking that way because that's how I met her 20 years ago

And what about you lady's? Is it a midlife crisis for you as well? Just want to hear other people reactions when you tell them.
43 don't think its a midlife crisis just got tired of driving a "grandma" car (Grand Marquis) for the past 10 years - no more kid taxi service - ready to enjoy my ride my way

This reminds me of something I read that's along the lines of: "The Mustang is built for the under 30 crowd, and the over 30 crowd." And it's just that, it appeals to everybody, no matter what age they are.

Im 34, Female, and have a Mustang. I have heard my sister comment that it is my "mid life crisis" but you never know what jealous people will say :smirk:

No one thinks Im 34 anyhow.... and who cares! You're only as old as you feel, and of course, as old as the type of car you drive makes you look .... rofl.

My wife says I am obsessed with my car, and frankly I agree. I am also 34. There is no way I could afford a car like this when I was in my 20's. I had to work since I was 15 since I was not born with a silver spoon. I have no problems buying stuff for my car and making it look the way I want. Sure, I'm dumping a lot of money into my car but hey, that doesn't make it a midlife crisis. I guess it all depends on who you talk to and whether or not they know your history. I think there is a big difference between working hard for something and always having things handed to you on a silver platter. My wife was born with a silver spoon so she really doesn't understand it.

38, married, 2 kids. wife has a minvan.

'06 vert on order. been planning this since i saw the new model 2 years ago.

i too am obsessed. won't have the car for months and already have money put aside for stripes, bullits, and a new exhaust.

the cool thing is my wife is as excited (almost) as me. every mod i want, she looks at, smiles, and says "oh yeah, you have to get that!". she's always loved mustangs (pick a year, she can identify it). her only worry is that i won't let her drive it (i'm really hopeful that it will be too fast and loud for her)

bottom line, this isn't a mid life crisis. too long in planning. also, a stang is a useful vehicle, unlike buying a harley.

The men in my family have so far lived to almost 90 in good health...so, as long as I can :drive: A Mustang will be in my driveway!

I am 33, ordered my 05 after fighting with Ford and Mazda about my dump of an 03 Mazda 6.

My V6 was net $19,135 which is about 1/4 of my annual pay.

So I doubt this qualifies as a midlife crisis purchase although I did buy it because I wanted something sportier and more nestalgic then my Mazda 6.

And yes I have the kids and wife and house.

But my wife drives a $40k truck.... soooooo

42, father of two. I get the mid-life crisis stuff all the time and encouragement to buy a BMW/Mercedes instead. Irony is that BMW and Mercedes drivers typically stare at my 05 GT Coupe and smile in appreciation.

Plus at under $30K for a car this good with a solid resale value it even makes financial sense! I'll probably go 09' Vert if Ford keeps making cars that are this good and fun to drive!

Call it what you want, i could care less. I'm in my upper 30's and haven't purchased a new vehicle for myself since '89. I put the family in a new car every 3 years, work my butt off, pratically rebuilt my entire house..........
Time for daddy to get his toy. Thats why i plunked down money to get on a waiting list for the '07 Shelby. Midlife crisis??....who cares, call it what you want.

Don't let it get to ya, they are jealous as other people have said. One guy was bashing my mustang saying how ford couldv'e done better, blah, blah, blah, I told him to have fun in his dated 97 F150 4x2 and go off-roading.

You're totally right, I'm 35, people think I'm 25, without knowing about my car, plus I didn't think mid life started till 40. And your only as old as you feel, so in that case I feel about 20
Also try going shopping with a 15 year old daughter, and see people freak out when she calls you mom, because you look so young, now thats cool
When 40 comes and implants and tummy tucks, thats my crisis!!
