Well the title says it all. I was leaving work today going through an intersection next to my office when an idiot in a Taliban style Toyota pickup ran the red and smashed into me. He even had the audacity to try to deny he ran the light, but thankfully this was right outside the Ministry of Interior and the place was littered with cameras. The cop told the guy to come clean, or else if he checks the video and he’s lying he will charge him with perjury. He came clean and admitted, and the cop still charged him with perjury because he lied initially. After dealing with the cops I noticed that my thumb was three times its size. Well turns out its dislocated and that was a whole world of pain popping it back in. I took some pictures of the accident and close-ups. I don’t think there was any damage to the drive train. Of course I’m not very knowledgeable about this and would hope you guys point me out in some directions. I will try to take some pictures from below tomorrow. Everything is closed on Friday. Saturday I will take her to the dealership. Let me know if I should look out for something in specific.

Ouch sorry for the accident, but can we say shelby conversion ? or a CS front end. with the damage done this may be the time to do it. replacing the hood and bumper you are almost there. If not a conversion an aftermarket hood costs just a bit more than the factory one. take this bunch of lemons,,, or limes...LOL.. and make something better of it.

 

sad to say but you got more than hood/bumper/fender...the upper front of the unibody and the coresupport are going to need some 'work' to say the least...Ive got a pic here somewhere of my car with the fenders off(undercoated the hard way when it was a couple weeks old)

attaching a couple pics- first shows the upper unibody(welded together) structure, second shows the passenger front tip of that- top left corner you can just see the black electrical box...the upper 'arm' will need pulled back into shape, or replaced, be sure they seamseal/paint all the welds- they probably have never seen rust over there, but when it comes back to a non-desert home, you'll want that all protected real well

To give you and idea this is $12.000 in damage. yea you have more than body damage, but still a good time to do some up grades... either Shelby or CS front end, new hood, HID's, IF the radiatior was damaged up grade that to a larger one. All the parts that have to be replaced, if you supply them, the dealer should give you back what the factory part costs.

 

What do you mean by 'work'? Are they bent back into shape or replaced? Same question applies to hood and fender.

 

WOW Doug! $12,000 !!! I will look into the upgrading. Not sure how easily this can be done in a beauracratic place like this. What more than body damage do you think might have happened?

Replaced, you will need a new hood, fender, bumper, headlight, Upper rad. susport brace, also looks like inner fender. Hard to tell what other internal damage is done untill it is toren down.
As for some of the aftermarket stuff or up grades, the dealer should be able to get the shelby or CS front end for you. the 08' have HID's they may be able to get those for you too. As for a hood, do some local research.

Sorry to see your wreck Doug. Thanks for the pics. And thank you Tim for your pics. I never dealt with insurance companies here but I'm sure they are not any more pleasant than back home. How long will she take to fix her up? My insurance will only supply me a rental for 14 days.

Its So Cal weather here for 7 months of the year. The other five months are hell on earth. I think thats a pretty good climate for a vert.

 

Hmmm, its been since the end of Feburary for me, but there was a lot of down time with negotiations with the ins. co. I was trying to get a new car at first. Now we are getting it repaired and some " diminished value" money.
in a normal situation, about a week depending on avaliability of parts. if you do up grades mabee a bit longer. the other drivers ins co should cover your rental as long as it takes to get your car back, not yours. You do want to get your ins co involved to make sure their ins co stays in line. If you try to do it on your own, they will walk all over you and tell you what they are going to do. Its your car, you make the decisions.

Nope that's the Arizona Desert. Kuwait is a level of hell above us with temps commonly in the 120's with Florida type humidity at times.

i feel sick.mainly about your car, thats a shame to happen to a mustang...glad your alright though, at least it was the front pass fender and not the door...but....my baby got dented on the passenger side rear 1/4 on the lip of the fender,last night, and i seen it happen some kids in a beat up black honda, come flyin next to it and park swing the door open and BOOM! he closed the door looked at his friends, they all laughed and took off...i almost chased him down but a speeding ticket would have made things worse
