Ok.. I had the chance to order a mustang any way i wanted it.. and i decided to take a v6 off the lot.. we'll i was going to trade it in before my dog scratched the heck outta my bumper the 2nd week i had it. and Then About 2 months later i had a fender bender, a truck bowed up and stoped and hit the hitch and put a hole in my bumper and a dent in my hood. I had just reordered all of the parts and we'll i was driving home going about 40-45mph around a small curve not sharp. And it skids slide ways gain control for second and slides the other way slamming head on into a tree.. Personally ihave to give this car a 5* out of 5* on it's durabilty.. Now skidding you gain speed and i hit the tree so hard that i did either a complete 360 and landed on the road as if i was driving and the tree jumped out at me. We'll they totaled it out. And got 20,000 out of it and bought another one.. A even better v6 due to the current gas prices. Again i could have had any stang. and Now i got an engine misfire at 3500miles. I have another chance to trade this car in around November not for any ordered but i any car on lot or they can get.. Up to about $30,000. And i seen a really nice Roush Mustang at a local dealer should i trade it or stay with the v6 for gas prices an insurance being i'm only 16 or should i go all out and get a GT or Roush GT ? Roush GT $28,000.

16? Two + accidents within days of owning a V6? I'd say, go buy a used cavalier or something for a couple grand and save your money. You don't want to hit a tree with a $30,000 roush, and, frankly, driving and handling a V8 is a whole other ballgame than a V6... and it doesn't sound like you've been real successful with the V6. No offense intended, but at 16, you gotta learn to walk before you run... This thread is just screaming for flames.... and probably for good reason.

 

I concur. Having that car at your age is a bad idea. Get something cheap and take a driving course.

Yea never have a nice new car at 16 or even 19 if you ask me. You gotta get experience so that you know car physics and respect the road and get the feel for the car. I had three accidents before I was 19, im 33 now and have never even got close to having an accident since then.

Gee at 16 and thinking about a Roush! 28,000! You'll be paying more for insurance, than anything else. With the extra horses of a V8, got to watch that right foot more! Just cool your jets if you get one!

with a track record like that you need to drive a four banger and get used to driving... you need to know how to handle diffrent situations, and what to do and what not to do..like others have said you really have not been able to handle a v6 what in your right mind would make you get a v8... go to some sort of driving school or something before you step up to the next level...

 

Well, this thread just confirms the reasoning we used when it was time to buy our 19 year old his first car -- he got a '01 Xterra -- and why our 16 year old gets only limited, supervised access to the Mustang.

As others have indicated, there is a lot more to driving than having a license, and a lot more to owning a car than having the money to buy one.

I hope you make a mature decision.

If you're having trouble keeping a V6 on the road, you may want to forget the Roush! Who would insure you at this point anyway?

Plus, reading your post was kind of like a self-administered root canal. I'm going for the Advil........

 

 

Being 22, I understand the need for having a cool car and all that, but owning a Roush is a bit much for someone your age. Driving ability aside, do you REALLY want to worry about parking that Roush in the school parking lot every day? It's going to get keyed or worse by a jealous classmate. Besides, you'll probably balk at buy a Roush once you hear your insurance quotes.

Stick with the V6 and get some more driving experience. Perhaps take a 4 week performance driving school course this summer as well. You'll get much more out of your current Mustang that way!

When you really want something, it's hard to accept negative critisicm from old fogeys like us. Having said that, listen to this...don't risk buying a Roush!!! Get a 4-6 banger and get some experience! I'd really like to hear your response to these posts! Best wishes.

Hey man - I am saying this in all complete seriousness - please do NOT get the Roush.

You need something right now that is a lot less dangerous at your age (don;t mean to preach but I have BEEN THERE, trust me)

I know its TOUGH when that great cool car is just sitting out there.... but think of it this way - a few years down the line when you are older, there is going to be a NEW, sweet Mustang out there (stock Ford, Roush, Saleen etc...) wiaitng for you....

We ain't trying to rain on your parade - we just want you alive and well on the board a few years from now.

 

Fix up you 6 and enjoy it for a while ...in a few years I'm sure you will have it payed off and more experience behind the wheel then if you still wish go get the roush .You could still have the 6 as the driver and the roush for the nice days .

When I was 16, I was lucky if my dad LET me drive his Volkswagon!! My kids did not have new cars at 16. My daughter got my 8 year old Mazda 323, and my son got a very used Honda Civic. You need to stay with used cars until you have a clean driving record for some time. By the way, who's paying your car insurance?
I'm a concerned mom.......you're TOO young to be out there wrecking every new car you get! It would be in your best interest to take a driving course.
