On Sept. 26th, I ordered my V-6 with most of the options available. On October 22nd, I still had no build date, and being impatient, I pursued dealerships that had 05's and were willing to accept the X Plan.
My search took me to Huntville, where there were 4 05's for sale. After hours of indecision, I settled for the V-6 Mineral Grey.
I'm sure that many of you that have ordered or purchased a GT are pretty excited about the aspect of having 300 HP. From my perspective, getting a V-6 after trading in a 4 banger(Mini Cooper) is going from night to day. The V-6 even sounds like it has HP to spare.
I love the strength of the car and the looks speak for itself. In the past week of ownership, not a day goes by that rubber-necking doesn't occur at every stoplight, etc. Several have stopped to asked about the model, etc. I really love the car and don't have a single complaint about it or the dealership (Woody Anderson).
Just wanted to share my thoughts as I'm sure I'm in the minority of those that ordered and decided the wait would be too long.

Congrats on your new car. Don't think of it as "settling". 95% of the population world wide could never fathom having such a fantastic car. Personally, since none of us really need 300hp (or more), you're just showing that you're less power hungry / ego driven as the rest of us. Consider it a mark of maturity and restraint. (And every time you fill up your tank, you can chuckle at the rest of us paying more to park in traffic ;-)

You're not settling...just a steady progression of upgrades.
I've gone from 4 banger, to 2.8L V6, to 3.8L V6. The "power" difference from one car to the next made me giddy each time. Hopefully, I'll make the jump to 4.6L V8 in the next few months.

are you saying you settled on the V6 or on the color/options? Cause your post says you ordered a V6 and were just impatient.

I don't have a single regret though, as I am very happy with the car, and have not seen another on the road.

Ponyman, Woody Anderson accepted the X Plan from you? From what I've been reading (a little clueless here) the X Plan is some kind of price break, but they told me the owner of Woody Anderson said "Absolutely no budging on price" for the 05s. I ordered mine from there last week and am suppose to pay MSRP. I'm a tad steamed now.
Not that I really felt like dickering around with them about the price, but STILL!
