Luckily you were not hurt and your car is still drivable. First thing to do is take ALOT of time in finding the right body shop. When I got into an accident in 03 I just took it where my insurance wanted me to and they did a horrible job.

I really hope you don't go through the hassles I did with the body shop, the paint was really bad, then they "blended the cruddy paint job into the 3 month old pait and ruined much of the stock paint. Which also began chipping as soon as I drove it away. They even sprayed paint or clear coat over the waxed surfaces that were still good. Causing little white bits of wax being trapped under the paint and some spots made little pin holes where the paint would not stick.

Then there was the mechanical mistakes like loose or missing bolts, my intake hanging off the throttle body and worse yet, my front wheel lugs were only hand tight.

In all my $16k car took $14k to fix and it was never perfect. The insurance claims to make your vehicle pre accident state, which it never could be since it was only 3 months old at the time of the accident.

I wish you the best of luck, don't want to scare you but you really should be as vigilent as possible before anyone starts work on your car.

Since you have 3 pages of insurance advice I won't chime in on that.

But I will ask, how'd the new style headrests work?

You know, I love the new style headrests, I'm 6 ft 4 and they hit me perfectly, there's plenty of headroom too. As for the accident, it really wasn't enough of a jolt to make a difference.

It seems like everything about this car was taylored for me.

Did you do a brake upgrade ? Maybe she just couldn't stop as fast as you. Not to twist it around or blaim anyone, but it pays to keep an eye on your rear view mirror as most (not all) accidents can be avoided. A word to the wise.
How odd that people say things like this - I got a similar reply when I posted about my accident. Like we're just being lazy and getting ourselves into accidents? And what happens when you try to avoid anothers poor driving and end up causing a far greater accident?

Not to flame Stangster, but if your accident was like mine, it all happened so fast that it was almost over as soon as it began. Some insurance geek came onto my thread and started spouting about "last clear chance" to avoid the accident. Even if you'd seen the woman coming, what could you have done? If you were in the right-most lane, would there have been time to check for traffic and then make a right-turn if clear? I know that for me, there was time to hit the brakes and that was it - if I had had a moment more time and swerved to avoid the person responsible for my accident, it certainly wouldn't have been a nice "mirror-signal-manouvre" situation. Any car next to me would've been side-swiped and then who knows how bad the damage would've been.

All I can say is good luck with your repairs.

Make sure that it's not just a body panel repair. There might be structural/frame damage which means you have to get it straightened/bent.

Now it was a Lady ? is she ok and hopefully she was not having a heart attack that say could have caused it ? There is always cause and effect applied to something ! After all things can be replaced but people cannot so I hope that no-body was physically hurt here emotionally yes. Maybe time to have a Councilor on this here web site to treat all of its patients

I spoke to her and she was fine, from the sound of it the cause was that she was talking to her nephew who was sitting in the passenger seat about how nice the car was and just lost track of how close she was getting. I let her know that I wasn't upset, she was most worried about telling her husband.

I know man, sometimes there is nothing you can do.
Maybe I should have opted for the hover feature. Or the NerfStang.

SOunds almost like undue care and attention ? Maybe there is some admittance there but Hey she did notice the Nice car ? Maybe we all need to have VERY loud proximity alarms ?

This is the stupidest post I have ever seen on any forum. How in gods name can you stop someone from driving into the back of you while you are sitting at a light? Your car may have the go-go-gadget legs, but most of ours don't.

And there are hundreds of other possibilities that can't be avoided if you are victim. Don't post nonsense.

As far as the OP goes: I would make sure you got a new bumper, trunk and lock (if it is popped like it looks), and replace the exhaust back to the mufflers if it is tweaked at all in any way. Good luck.

If the exhaust is damaged and they're buying you a new one, insisit on payment for a Ford exhaust. Let them know that a Midas exhaust is not acceptable! One of the features of the car is the exhaust, mandrel bent, sound, etc... Then, after you get the money for it, maybe it's time to call Mr Bassini.

You are absolutely correct, that is my favorite feature.
Although I don't think the exaust was touched at all.

On the upside, now I don't have to worry about removing that stupid dealer sticker.
