Anyone from metro-detroit Michigan, I really need some help.

I just picked up a sonic blue '05 GT, 200 miles on the odomoeter. Yesterday on my way home from work I got hit...my entire front facia is gone, my hood is buckled and needs replacing, and my radiator is scraped all up. I cannot describe how after waiting 6 months for my GT how sad, dissapoined, and utterly heartbroken I am right now; this was my first mustang.

In any case, she was at fault, she got the ticket, so I don't have to pay a dime..just need to deal with my Mustang not being "original" anymore

I called the insurance company, and got everything settled..I just want my car repaired as absolute BEST and as quick as possible. I was wondering if anyone in the metro-detroitish Michigan area has any reccomendations collision shop-wise. I want this car pampered, painted with perfection, and looking brand new again. If anyone has ANY recommendations on places they know of who does good work, and can make this sad, sad situation all go away..PLEASE let me know. Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

-A heartbroken 05 owner

That stinks man. At least you're ok. Best of luck with the repairs. the bright side is she's so new you don't have to worry to much about matching the paint. Again, best of luck.

Sorry to hear of your untimely collision and I too share your repair concerns.
From many years of exprience. Unless you have had problems there previously, I would just take it back to your Dealer. Shops across the area and most likely country all have problems of one kind or other. You just have to calmly stay on top of things and they will sooner or later get things correctly done. Keep in mind auto body repair is an art

That's a good idea John, but most insurance companies will only return the vehicle to original condition. I had a friend who got hit and wanted to do the same thing, but they wouldn't let her. She had to have the car fixed like it was before the accident.

I agree. If you ever had any thoughts of mods, now is the time. Take it to a larger dealer with a decent body shop. They would have the best knowledgebase and contacts of repairing the car than a body shop who had never worked on this car before.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Most insurance companies give the estimate for repairs, cut you or the body shop the check. They never see the car again. This would be up to you and the body shop of whos parts go on. As long as you understand your paying any differences in the cost from the insurance companies check.

Possible aftermarket would be cheaper, no body work to do on hood then, saves labor time.

Accidents are going to happen, this is why Im not doing body mods right away, lol.

Good luck, and I know how you feel.

Why not get it repaired at FORD? instead of hunting for a different body shop.

This reminds me. Better get pics of my car over to my insurance company.

These Saleen take off parts are quite interesting....it looks as though the hoods can come pre-painted, I wonder at what quality.. My main concern going through a dealership with this is the paint job quality. I've heard some real bad stories of dealers doing a crappy paint job, and I don't want to run into these problems, especially because my car is brand new. I want it perfect. I'd be reluctant to throw on an aftermarket front facia, but I wonder what aftermarket hoods I could get ahold of..thats not a bad idea, and perhaps it could turn this really crappy situation around

I'm very sorry... that definitely stinks. Did you happen to take pictures so we can see the extent of the damage? Hopefully it was just body parts, and the engine block, axels, frame, etc., weren't knocked out of whack.

Best of luck.

you should also keep in mind that insurance companies will dictate terms to you. don't let that happen! We haven't seen the picture of how extensive the damage is but if you can push for getting full funds for your car. i.e Totalled. go for it. If there's one thing i know that a car never remains the same after an accident, especially if it's a front end collision. Take it to the dealers if you can, and don;t be discouraged, your'e safe, that's what matters. everything happens for a reason. Whatever happened, happened for the best. Keep smiling and move on.

Whatever you do, don't go to one of "their" (the insurance company's) recommended body shops. The worst work in the world comes out of alot of those places with non-Ford manufactured parts.

Hold your guns and the insurance carrier will write a check to both you and the body shop of your choice for the repairs. It doesn't make any difference if you get an aftermarket hood as long as you pay the difference in price if there is any.
