I need help.

I am so irrate right now I had to walk away from the dealership 30 minutes ago. Some of you may remember that I made a post about my drivers door being rusted with 3500 miles on the car.

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=57489

I have just returned from the Bodyshop for the 3rd time now and they have done nothing but hack my car.

1st time picking the car up.
-Fish eyes all over the door
-major Orange peal spots on the lower half (looked like they actually missed clearing it there)
-door trim at the top of the door where the window retracts was hagning off.
-Overspray on the fender and rocker panel.
-Stereo screen locked out (touch screen, they where playing with it and locked it)
-Car had an additonal 2.5 miles on it. (1 mile is exceptable however they must of popped the hood and saw the SC and decided to act like it was a rental)

They thought this was exceptable and swore the car went through their Q/A. Had the nerve to tell me that "Every once in a while Q/A misses one" BULLS*%T!.

2nd time back (To fix all those issues above)
-Base was better (no fish eyes) but the door had way to much orange peal on it. Basically looked like it was well..........repainted. Stuck out like a sore thumb next to the quarter panel and fender.
-Stereo settings all messed up again.

3rd time back (Fix the orange peal)
-OK, this is what I go find out this morning when I picked it up. First off, the stereo screen was once locked again. (can't type on here the a** reaming I gave them about that, the extra mileage, and the crap work). They told me they where going block the clear and smooth it out to blend better with the rest of the car. No issues with them doing it as I used to do paint work on show cars and know they can block it down to make it look like glass however I drive up today to discover they blocked it for sure however they FU@%*NG BLOCKED PART OF THE FENDER AND PART OF QUARTER PANEL TO TRY AND BLEND IT!. It also has about 10 pounds of compound in the door jam (I am exaggerating a bit). Now my car with 5300 miles on it looks like it just rolled out of Maaco with wheel marks all over the side of it.

I am so hot right now over this. I can't bear to bring my car back there again as they have now had it for a total of almost 2 weeks. I brought it to them because the other dealership my car came from is worse. My friend who sold me the car even told me not to use his bodyshop so I had to give this one a shot since it is warranty work.

Now my car is going into another bodyshop next week to have a hood, front and rear fascia, and side scoops done. I am about to pay them to fix the dealerships hack job which is pi@@*ng me off even more.

What can I do about this? Will Ford do anything for me? I know I am not going to get this but I want Ford to pay for me to have the "real" bodyshop fix the car.

Ok, rant off for now before I blow one of my own gaskets.

I feel for you as that really sucks, BUT definitely take it to a quality body shop and have it done right. Can you get FORD to pay for it? That is a question I can't answer for sure, BUT you can **** well bet I would try. You have given them not only 1, but 3 chances to fix it. They failed and failed miserably. Even if you can't get them to pay for the repair, at least you will have peace of mind when a REAL body shop fixes it.

You can try complaining to Ford, but considering their total incompetence with dealing with lemon cars and their refusal to upbraid their service departments for obvious mistakes I think that you will be wasting your time.

My recommendation would be to complain to the BBB in your area, file a complaint with Ford to back you up (not because you are expecting remedy, but to show that you have tried to upscale the problem). The BBB may be able to help you. Also, write a letter to the owner of the bodyshop/dealership documenting your problems!

Ford doesn't own bodyshops, it's the dealers sideline business. It sucks when a bodyshop has such incompedent help.

I wish Ford would look at it that way "a side business" so we had a choice of where to bring our cars for warranty work (not just the choice of different Ford dealers).

I knew this was going to happen. I was sick to my stomach as soon as I found the defective paint and knew I would have to deal with a dealerships bodyshop because it's warranty work.

I guess I am gonna find out how much this is gonna cost from the other place doing my hood and parts.

Man, this literally makes me sick to my stomach Gary- I feel like throwin' up and I know you feel worse...... I'm sorry this sucks so bad for you.

I think the only chance you have is to try to reason with the dealership manager and thoroughly explain your position. Before you do this, take the car to some other body shops and get estimates to have it fixed correctly. Maybe just maybe they'll work it out with you to avoid being taken to small claims for their incompetence.

I would also contact Ford about this; sure maybe the dealerships are "side-line business" but the original problem that caused this mess was a Ford defect, one that is covered under warranty. For you to get the problem fixed under warranty, which Ford covers, you shouldn't have to put up with this crap. Get ahold of the regional Ford rep and explain everything to them.

Good luck man, I hope you get it worked out.

World Ford in Pembroke Pines FL.

It gets worse but I actually feel better. I went to the shop today that is going to do my aftermarket parts and they looked at the dealerships job. They saw all the flaws and the poor work that was done but also found something else. On the quarter behind the door on the upper area there are now 2 dents (look more like warps or waves) in the metal. Can only see them at a certain angle but the body guy said they look like palm prints. More then likely the guys right hand was pressing on there as he was block sanding with his left hand.

All in all he told me they would fix the waves in the metal and straighten out the clear and wheel marks for me for around $100 extra. It's still $100 of my own money but if thats what it takes to keep my car away from the butchers I'll pay it. Still gonna pass all this through the BBB and Ford directly but I am sure they won't do anything for me.

LOL no comment Tom. The service writer at the dealership said in so many words "you get what you pay for". He was great the whole time but the people doing the work are fresh out of vocational school. Obviously I could be very sarcastic right now but I'll avoid that since it will come from anger and not solve anything :P

Gary - I friggin KNEW it. I bought a brand new 2000 Escort ZX 2 back there in 99 - sales was great. Brought it in for service twice and they were terrible.

The reason I figured World Ford Pembroke?

The SAME radio thing - I picked up my car the second time and it was set to a different friggin station. Wonder if my car was the lunch mobile that day......

I wouldn't go back there for service if you paid me.

If I was in your shoes, I would do the exact same thing - its your own money but it will be done right. I WILL say I had to take my old '05 for TSBs a year ago to Delray Ford (Linton right off 95) and they are the ONLY place I have had a positive service experience.

I hear ya Burke. I mainly deal with Sawgrass Ford but outside of my friend who is a sales manager, I won't deal with them. He is the one who told me not to take my car to them and they are the ones who screwed up my 04 Mustang. Only reason I went to World is one of my employees had his truck painted there (someone keyed it) and he had to bring it back once but they made good and did a nice job, not to mention they provide rentals where as Sawgrass does not.

Any drivetrain stuff, it's going to Wayne Akers since they put the SC on the car.

Sweet dude - you have the Whipple?? More info!

I have two TSBs to take care of (limited slip groan and the **** gas tank/long cruise hesitation thing) and was planning to go to Delray - I am running the Saleen SC - installed by Saleen so no porb there but I am running JDMs most basic tune with the stock pulley so I need to flash back to stock before I bring it in.....

No whipple, I have a Roushcharger from Wayne Akers but one of my long term plans (or dreams) is to drop a GT500 motor in it with the Roush O/R SC they puts it output to over 700 HH. Of course this is when it's not my daily driver and I hit the lottery :P
