i don't know, for what people were telling everywhere, the 05 GT should be faster than a 96 cobra with a couple of mods,i don't buy this story yet, so we are still waiting for the real numbers, come on guys, to whoever is out there with 05 gt's already, get them to the tracks, and show us the dam numbers

 

I think the 05 should be able to outrun a 96 cobra once the engine is broken in. The 96 cobra has 305 hp while the 05 has a advertised 300 hp, but most of us think its closer to 320 hp or something in that area.

 

Its going to take some mods (ie gears) to get near what a lightly modded Cobra can do. Throw a good driver in the mix and it will be a toss-up. But purely from a Stock to Stock standpoint, the 05 will win due to more HP and better "drag friendly" suspension.

 

Im the guy that raced the 05. As i said in the other post... it is an auto (so for the less intelligent people out there, its alittle bit slower than a stick... so if it were a stick it would have taken me) I have an xpipe and an intake, so my car isnt completely stock.

 

I hope that is the floor model he was gasing up, and not someone's order! :angry:

You need to remember that in '05 the auto is GOOD. Unlike past years, the delta between stick and auto has been just about erased. You're correct that the auto is still slightly slower, but it isn't the big gap like it used to be.

Galaxy...AMEN! I told people in the office today not to expect me the day that thing comes off the truck. I'll be under the weather myself that day.

 

someone had bought it and he left it there for people to look at... and i got luckey cause they were goin to gas it up for the guy... and i got behind him.. and thats when it went down

dont forget that the 5 speed auto is very tall geared in 4th, they will kick hiney with 3.90's or 4.10s

 

Wow! an auto 05 trailering a 5-speed manual 96 Cobra. Wonder how much of a lead the 05 would have gotten if it was a 5-speed manual (i know it would be close though). If the 05 could do this to an older cobra, then it should be able to do the same with a Mach. Since it's underrated, I wonder if it could tail a 99/01 Cobra?

 

Whatever the case, this car shows itself as a bargain more and more every day.
