Allright:

We all know there are dealers out there who are charging Over MSRP for the priveledge of being the first to own a mustang- And we know there are crazy folk doing it(I witnessed it firsthand).

Since we also know that this is just a vehicle- albeit a new one, and they are NOT a special edition or limited production car......we will all have one if we are patient. Once say March hits and the lots are full.....we can walk in and get whatever we want.

Say poor person A pays $3,500 over MSRP- If they wreck it and happened to finance it- they are well under market value on it right? The jacked up car depreciates MORE because they paid way more for it...So they are up the creek with no paddle.

Smart person B gets it for $3-500 over invoice or on a plan- Same situation not so far up the creek right?

This is all nuts. The dealers here are trying REAL hard to push the 04s off on people by deceit..Or flat out lies, or telling us we will not get a 2k5 if we don't buy it TODAY. I have never seen such before. I have been told some nutso stuff- IUP is Gone forever, so you better pay $$$$$ or you will never have it, Mustangs are limited production, If I don't order today, I will be charged over MSRP......

I wanna know how everyone else(who have NOT preordered you lucky people) is dealing.

Thank you for this site and for keeping me in the know!

1. The Mustang has not been a limited production vehicle in the entire history of the car. They have had LP SE models but not the regular Mustang.

2. IUP is not going away. If people buy it then Ford will keep putting it in the car.

3. Not all car dealers are crooked lying snakes, but you have found a knack for meeting the ones that are.

If you want to drive a good ways I have found two dealers in the Houston area that seem to be honest.

Patience pays, specially for those who are financing. Each $1K can mean $18 - $27 less a month depending on the term of the loan.

For any doubters, the most recent examples are the early SEs and SVTs owners who can proudly display their diplomas from the Got Nailed To The Wall School for desperate buyers.

The current enthusiastic atmosphere is great but it has little to do with the practical and business side of a purchase. Six months from now there will be some sad stories being posted here from some members that were not sensible in their decisions.

Actually- I only found two snakey ones-no, sorry three, but the third was just ignorant of anything with an engine. I contacted most every dealer from Huntsville Al to Montgomery Al. For a total of about 20. Three out of 20 isn't such a bad number.
All the others I would do business with, but one of the million shined above the rest. That one is spectacular- I have never before enjoyed being on a car lot before I went there.

I KNOW a mustang isn't limited and anyone who wants one can get one.
I KNOW the IUP isn't over.

I was shooting for:
If you pay WAY over MSRP and something happens to the car, are you not super up the creek?

AND

What other fun stories have people ran into?

Question: What is IUP?

I told the guy in Crossroads there was no way I was paying 30,000 (the sticker was 29,900) for a car I KNOW will be cheaper in a year or so. I just dont have that kind of money.

Now some do, and to those people, rock on (can I please drive your mustang) :headbang: You will be the ones making us all jealous and letting us race our 04's against your 05s, hopefully.

But maybe in 06 I will be making more cash and can pick up a SVT and have a 400hp engine....

Hey its legitimate!Don't pop eye at me.

This time I did my research for months now.....I am tired of walking on and saying-gimme and walking out violated.

There are two not listed- Adamson and Town & country. Simply because I dont know! I bought from Adamson last time, but it seems I got violated there also( I never bothered to look over my paperwork until the other day, and I wish I hadn't now).

I got drug off the car lot yesterday by my husband, My leg was poised
I don't think he had bail money on him.

Alls well that ends welL!

I know when my wife (before I knew her) totaled out her ford festiva. Not hard to do I know. The insurance only paid what the car was worth not what she owed. So she ended up having to roll that over into the next vehicle. I would say anytime you pay more for car then what it's worth your asking for trouble.

I would say that the people that pay thousands over msrp aren't too worried about insurance and the value of the car anyway. If they have the money to pay thousands more for a car now and can't wait a couple monthes then it's not a big deal to them.

I have this funny thing about money... I don't like to throw it away.

Gap insurance? It basically pays the difference between what you owe, and what the car is worth. IMO, it's a good thing to have on a new car, or any time you are upside down in a vehicle and don't want to have to worry about paying out of pocket if the car is totaled.

Last week all they would do was MSRP. And they wanted to give me $1500 less than KBB on my trade. So good luck. That $300 over invoice sounds like the deal in this area.

I've had quite a few problems dealing with people in Milwaukee, WI. Almost everyone I talked to wanted to charge 3-5k above MSRP in order to sell me the car. Even with my qualifying for x-plan I've heard lies you wouldn't believe. That Ford has told them they couldn't use x-plan, that the new 05 is limited production and for that reason I have to buy it over sticker, or I have to order it and they wouldn't guarantee that they wouldn't sell the car over sticker when it came in, even if I put money down.

I eventually decided to go to FordDirect.com and send out a blanket e-mail to all my local dealers explaining that I qualify for X-plan, I know it's available on the 05s and I was even willing to deal with them to pay a bit more than that. One nice individual on here offered to order one for me on X-plan, but being out of state I wanted to do a quick search for a local deal. Turns out the first response I got was the best. The lady was very informed, kind, and willing to sell at X-plan off the lot. With a quick deposit I locked up a Windveil GT with almost everything on it. She said if I didn't like it she would happily refund because they can easily sell the car, and I agreed. I told her if I don't like it I would absolutely order one through her, so they get a sale no matter what and probably more importantly, I will always recommend her. Everyone else that contacted me wanted over MSRP and continued to lie. 2 others were willing to order on x-plan, but couldn't guarantee it when it came in. But at least they were willing to try.

I guess you just need to sort through all the slick individuals out there. I know they are in the business to make money, and now days you hardly make a profit on cars. But it's not like they are doing that bad either. And it's crazy to pay over MSRP for a car that will be abundant in the next few months.

For the one specific dealer that told me know one should know the invoice on a car or pay close to that, that ford wasn't selling x-plans on the 05s, that he wanted at least 3k on top of MSRP, and then said if I ordered they might sell it to someone else - I can't wait to drive up in my new GT shake his hand and then ask for the sales manager and let them know they lost a sale.
