It has been raining in the south for days now and I have noticed that when I went out to the car today, there was a puddle in both floorboards! The car is garage kept, so it happened when I took an hour long trip. Anybody else have this problem and if so what was the cause?

I'm in Louisiana and it's been raining here too. I had my car outside all day yesterday in the rain while working at a friend's house (with no garage or carport) and no leaks. If you had puddles in the car from and hour long trip, either you had both windows down at least an inch, or there is a leak somewhere. Get that checked out ASAP.

Robert, I had the same problem with my 2 ford vehicles. The window rubbers need adjusting. You might have to wash your car with a high pressure source to find it. Usually one of those brushless car washes will do the trick. They have a lot of pressure behind them When you do find it, contact your dealership, they will adjust them for you.

Thanks. I thought about something to do with the window seals too, but puddles of water after an hour trip? That's a lot of water. Definitely do some water testes to see where it's coming from.

Rob,
If just your floor boards seem soaked then water could be coming up from around the wheel well area. I had a ford probe with that problem and it took a few times before they finally fixed it. Good luck

I checked the side door panels and they were dry...it seems to be only in the middle on the drivers side and on the lower right corner (by the seat) on the passenger side. And only in the front, rear is dry as can be.

Rob,
I remember when I drove my probe after it rained the water would come up through the floorboard on the drivers side only. I soaked out the floor. It was frustrating but it got fixed after a few trips to the dealer. That may not be your problem but I would wash the car and see if you can figure where its coming from.

Myself and one orther person I dont remember who, but we both posted this..we both had water coming in the passenger side while driving in the rain..The dealer could not find it..But they did call in a outside company with meters to help them locate it..even though my carpet had long since dried they still found it wet up under the dash..and were able to find it and fix it.. it was coming from somewhere in the upper right part of the cabin..You now are the third one I've heard of with this kind of leak...I hope your guy's find it for you..

Ford has had a lot of problems with water leaks around the air inlet for the climate control. Water sheets of the windshield and into the channel below the window. Crappy seals. And I don't mean the ones that swim.

Someone else had the same problem on here... If I remember right they took it to the dealership and the dealership got a third party to check it out and find the exact spot of the leak. Found it and sealed it and good as new.

I've had a few Sable's and a Town Car with cowl leaks come into my work, I had to pull the carpet out to dry it out while I went looking for the leak source. I ended up putting new carpet in the Town Car due to rust stains. Make absolutely sure you get your carpet dried out otherwise it will get mold in there.
The Sable's ended up having a cowl cover by the wipers replaced as well as sealing a few locations in the cowl near the climate control airbox. The Town Car had an airbox that wasn't installed correctly. I sure hope yours will be a relatively easy fix. Definitely get it into the dealer to be looked at though.

Don't have an answer but do know a trick for drying out the floor. My dad has a vert that occasionally leaks. He puts a cheap roll of toilet paper on the floor and it wicks up all the moisture. Really works well. Hope they get you fixed soon.

I have a leak, both passenger and driver floor are wet tonite.
I know it didnt come through the windows.. the seats were dry and the floor mats were dry on top... found the pond under the floor mats..
Not sure where it came from - this is the first time I have noticed it out of 30-40 car washes...Never noticed it before during the rain...
I want to scream...
