Since most people's deductible will be the size of the damage (or larger), and your insurance rates might go up, it would be better not to report unless you caught the guy in the act. (and for some reason, those guys tend to fall down while trying to get away; repeatedly)....

Too bad that's the attitude down in Mexico (though I'm not surprised). If I were you, I'd obtain a firearm. Since the cops don't protect you, you have to look out for yourself. At least, that's how I would see things.
Mexico is kinda like NJ when it comes to guns. The government don't want you to have them and do everything they can to take them away. Legal ones anyway.

That just blows. I feel for you. I hope you get it fixed like new. If you don't have an alarm that would be my next purchase.

OOH I am pissed on your behalf . I hope you find em and rip their ********* off.
On behalf of all male TMS members, let me say "Ouch!"

But what if they're girls? I remember reading about a gang of girls in Albuquerque that had to vandalize cars as part of their initiation. It's possible this wanton vandalism was a rite of passage for some waste of flesh.

There are some real slimeballs everywhere you turn who are jelaous of someone who works hard to buy a nice car.

Fix the car, leave it at your buddy's place, but this time you and your friends wait in the bushed with some baseball bats. That's what I would do at least.

That's the kind of thing that makes me want to break kneecaps! I work hard for my toys!!!! Anyone else see punk'd last night? They had the guy from the TV show Scrubs and had some kids act like they were spray painting his new black Porsche? At the end he said America almost witnessed me punch a kid. That would be me.

I had some similar vandalism on my 99 GT. The cops wouldn't even come out to look at it. I blame CSI for making me think that 10 dudes would be out with fingerprinting kits and searching for the vandal!

Sorry to hear about this, I feel your pain.

Sorry to hear / see pics about the damage to your car. I'd like to just once catch an idiot(s) doing that crap so I could take a softball bat upside their heads!! I hope you get your car put back together again soon. How depressing!!

The 1st weekend out with my restored '78 (in 1999), and someone keyed my hood. Then I parked my '78 next to the police at a high school quarter finals football game and someone keyed the side of my car even though the police were right there!! Several months later in another town at a grocery store, someone stole my Mustang II emblem off of the rear trunk deck. I was ticked but laughed at the thought that they assumed they got something valuable (I had replaced the original emblem with a nice shiny new chrome aftermarket replica when I restored the car. I still have the original). What doofuses.

As for the alarm, I have the active anti-theft in my '05 GT and the main problem I am dissapointed with is that if the alarm goes off on the car, it doesn't notify you like on your keychain or something. If you can't hear the alarm going off (like if you are in a building), you aren't going to know the alarm is going off. Why did I even bother paying for the active anti-theft feature???!!

Reporting it will do nothing at all, except waste my time. I live in Mexico, and this is the kind of thing that the cops do nothing about.

I don't know about Mexico but in the U.S. the insurance co. will not pay without a police report #. :bang:
As an Insurance Adjuster, I have to say, that we don't require police reports to claim a Comprehensive/vandalized claim, just for an Uninsured Motorist.
Feel sorry for ya, I would go ahead and make the comp claim, and hopefully will be able to save your deductible, since there are so many willing to help on the forum.
P.S. A vandalism claim will not make your insurance go up.

I agree w/ you, except for you forgot the fog lights.
I went ahead and created an estimate for you...assuming that the mirror motors are fine, and that there is no paint work. $40/hr labor-typical body shop labor rate
7% sales tax also.
Total came up to 603.13 labor hours below
1. Grille-87.88 1.4
2. Fog lamps-100.33 x 2 .3
3. Center caps-36.88 x 4 0
4. Mirror glass-13.90 0
5. Luggage lid emblem-31.47 .2
*************************************
hope this helps some
if you have 100.00 comp deductible, it is definately worth claiming....again it will not increase your premiums in the U.S. probably same in Mexico.

forgot the fogs... looks like Mitchell?

Edit to add:

While a comp claim won't increase rates on your current policy, it may affect the rates you get if you switch companies in the near future.

Personally, I found that pretty funny (this coming from a Mex-Amer). It's very far, far, far from the norm in Mexico (I've only seen vacationing American's in huts in Mexico ). That's why i found it amusing lol
