OK, I am a Web surfer of long standing, and this is more embarassing than asking for directions.

I love my new 2005 Mustang. But I need another set of wheels, and I LOVE the Bullitts with spinners in the brochure (page 27 I think). Maybe they are called GT-style wheels, I don't know. It probably comes from watching too much Speed Racer as a kid.

I have searched Ford, I have searched other sites, but I cannot find the answer to the following:

1) Is that spinner a "cap" that you can buy and put on your standard 05 GT wheels?

2) If it is part of the wheel, where do I buy these things? They don't seem to be at the website listed in the brochure.

Can anyone help???

The spinner is a cap.

Whether it will fit previous wheels, well - it might. But I do not yet believe they're being sold separately.

Yup they're a cap, and they're in the same catalog as that picture you referenced.

I'm getting a set for mine as well, but it seems like they're not stocked yet, my dealer is trying to get a hold of four of them for when I take delivery in a couple of weeks, no luck in getting ahold of them ....yet.

When and if I do get a hold of them, I'll find out a part number.

Well fortuneately the only places my car will be parked is in my garage, or at the secured lot at work. I've got enough vehicles not to have to take my car to the movies or shopping or anywhere else that will require it to be parked for an extended period of time.

That or a little loctite might help

We might hafta get our cars together for a photo op SixtySix. Mine got moved up a bit, got bucked on the 24th, so I figure to see it 15 Dec at the latest. Got a decent 4 MP digital camera for some good new photos of my ride when it does get here

SixtySix. I assume since your dealer hasn't found a p/n that you also probably don't know what the cost will be? Is there any way that you can order your car with these, rather than getting the standard bullits and having to purchase these separately?

They are caps and you can order them through the parts department...my cost I believe was $95.00.
I was told not to expect them until the end of December.
The number I used to order was 5R3Z-1130-AA, referred to as "Mustang Spinner Caps".

Yeah, I did see a cost breakdown somewhere... $65.00 cost and $100.00 retail.
Unfortuneately accessories are purchased separately, if your dealer can find the part and have it in time for delivery he can roll it in with the cost of the car.

Stubbies: Sounds like a plan, PM me when the time comes, I've got a 6MP Canon Digital SLR.

You can see the lower resolution results here!

No Shannon.... You have to order the wheels as they come from the factory for the GT (no spinner caps on either concepts or bullitts), and then the spinner caps can be purchased as a dealer accessory item. I checked on this as well, because I wanted the polished bullitts, and was told I couldn't order them on the car as built, but that I would essentially have 2 sets of wheels if I wanted the polished bullitts as well. Not worth the $$$ to me.....

I was at a dealership and the salesman just yanked off the V6 spinner. Yep, they are THAT easy to remove. They need to have a screw on the inside of the wheel or a wire attached to the spinner and a locking lug nut.

That rules them out for most guys that have to leave them on the street. Not going to be midnight auto supplier.

Thanks Giddyup. That's what I figured. I'm sure the polished bullits are pretty expensive too.

yes i have to agree i also wanted a set of those spinners but after seeing how easily they just pop off i changed my mind in fact my local dealer has to take them all off at night due to the fact some had allready been pulled off and stolen. I thought they would be screwed from the inside as like my 65 center hub

The spinners rotate independently of the wheel. I believe this is to prevent it from tearing something to shreds if it gets caught.

I'll have to find out what the accessory one's are, no way I'm paying a hundred bones a piece for plastic.
