I canclled my order today!
Some have suggested that my problem lies in the fact that I am impatient. On the contrary, it is a greater triumph of patience to order a new car. Were I impatient I would accept this car since it is the first to arrive. Instead, I am ordering a different car with the full knowledge that it will take much longer to arrive. I am choosing to be patient in order to have piece of mind. Again, this is a purely subjective judgement on my part. My decision rest soley on a suspicion, but a somewhat well grounded suspicion at that.
I love the new mustang and will own my car for many years to come. Besides, absence makes the heart grow fonder!

Super Sonic, I believe you need an attitude adjustment. It's well over two months since his car was built. . .

Built week of 9/7. . . 10/7 is one month. . . 11/7 is two months. . .
Nope, definitely not yet two months.
Most frustration is based on the idea that Ford will build the ordered cars first, and that is not necessarily true - for Ford or ANY manufacturer. Ford is dealing directly with the dealers and their needs, and only indirectly with you and me.
We like to think of it differently than that, but that is the way it is.

Well, with a VIN ending in 105###, I suppose I am one of the first 5000. I just found out that my car is still sitting on a lot at the factory, It was built on 9/29, and has had a defective light switch repaired, at the very least.
Good? I suppose even with test mules there are bound to be some mistakes... but it is EXTREMELY frustrating to see later orders get from factory to garage in TWO WEEKS. Why is it still sitting there? Supposedly it's due to a shortage of rail cars.
Super Sonic, I believe you need an attitude adjustment. It's well over two months since his car was built, and his car doesn't need to even cross an ocean. Unless I had some unavailable-anywhere-else plan, I would be doing the same thing. It's unconscionable that Ford isn't doing everything in it's power to take care of the most loyal customers.
Exactly what does $625 of inland destination charges buy these days?

DeathDealer. You wanna talk about loyal customers. And I may only be 22 but I have owned 4 Fords, my mother drives a 03 Ranger, my grandfather a 98 Contour, my brother a 95 Escort, my cousin a Thunderbird (early 90's), & my aunt & uncle own 2 73 Mach I's, a 89 Mustang Vert, a 94 GT Vert, a 03 F250, a 93/94 Davey Allison Limited Edt. Thunderbird & a 67 or 69 F100. So, I know all about loyal Ford customers. Besides that's just what we currently own. That's to say nothing of what they have owned in the past. In fact the only NON-Ford I remember in our family is my uncles current 38 Chevy & my brother had a Chevy S10 (till he totalled it)& my other cousin currently drives a Mazda truck.
And when I sent my letter to MI along with me replacement application I clearly stated that at that point I wasn't sure I would ever buy another Ford again. That's, I believe, why they agreeded to replace my car. Ford is replacing my 03 Stang that turned out to be a lemon. So, I ordered an 05 to replace it. I talked to the GM at my dealership yesterday & he said that they checked it last week & that I am in Fords expodite order system. And I ordered 9/22. I am still a clean, unscheduled status.
And as Paris MkVI pointed out. It's been no where near "well over 2 months" since the car was produced. Now in 2 weeks or 3 weeks maybe. But no, not now.
Anyway. I am rambleing now. But good luck GKC1908 with which ever you decide. And good luck to all of you who are still waiting for you new rides. Cheers mates.
Sometimes I wonder if the dealers are messing up your deliveries more than Ford by not ordering your cars when they say they did trying to make more money. I talked to one dealer and they were not ordering any 05 for anyone they were going to sell from stock, I guess it makes it easier to get the adjusted market value.

It is retarded that fedex or ups can tell me where my package containing a 10 dollar bag of dog chews is, but Ford cant tell a customer where there 20k+ car is....

LOL, thats funny. yeah man that stinks. i still might have waited it out. but as long as you are happy. my dad didnt even order one. and got one two weeks ago
I ordered mine in May also and my numbers are 100XXX so if you are correct it is in that first 5000 also. I now have about 400 miles on it. Why don't you fly down to Brandon Ford in Florida and pick one out and drive it home? It was worth the wait. They must have a lot of defective cars or a slow repair crew. My GT had 45 miles on it off the truck so someone was checking it out. I hope you get one soon!!
Well, thanks everyone for allowing me to rant a little about my (and some of your) situation. I just really want my car. I have since spoken to my salesman, and he assures me that, although my car had a minor problem and has been fixed, it is one its way. It should arrive next week. I guess I am not as patient as thought I was, because I have had a change of heart. I am going to stay with the car I have on order.
What made me change my mind--besides some of the good support I have found here--is the quality of my salesman and the dealership.
They are top notch!
One day soon will are all going to look back on this time and laugh. Oh, we will have to look back fast because we will be flying past other cars in our Mustangs!

But on the "on topic" side.....8 week delivery should be from order.... give them 2 weeks to schedule, wait a week for it to be built.......4 weeks to ship to anywhere in the lower states? In theory, he should have received his car in the w/c 7/10, I can understand why he is annoyed!

No, the car doesn't have any type of "good bad or indifferent" history. We have known FROM DAY ONE that any Ford car, no matter what, when it is ordered from the factory takes 6-8 weeks to be delievered. We aren't at 8 weeks from job1 yet, therefore, the car, built on 9/7, can't even be considered late.

You outta try out
‘Im gaan Mon
GKC; I ordered my car on the first day Ford would accept orders; I still have no car. Cars ordered long after mine have been built, shipped and delivered. My car was built about the same time as yours, and I have been just as frustrated. It has become very offensive to me to have purchased so many new vehicles from this company and yet be put on a back burner after ordering so early. The big problem, however, is communication. Ford does not realize things have changed and consumers have become accustomed to good communication and tracking of their purchases. If Ford had communicated with you (or even adequately with the dealer) , you would probably feel differently. In my case, we were given a delivery date the week of October 10. It came and went but no car. Poor communication from Ford.....compounded by delivery of cars ordered and built much later. My decision out of all this is that I will not again order a car early from Ford. I may, or may not, buy another Ford product, but I sure as heck won't trust them anymore on an early order.

Anyways-on subject, I can definitely feel for you. I'm pretty much in the same boat as yourself, although, my car just arrived yesterday. The downfall is that the car carrier created some minor damages on my car while unloading it. It'll be another week before I get it. They are painting the risers in the front fascia as "compensation." Honestly, my desire to have this car outweighs my level of patience-if that makes sense. I've waited since May, what's another week. I know logic would say, cancel or stay away. Besides waiting, what factual info does anyone have about real significant issues that would really cause someone to stay away? Patience is the key at this point. Pass time by discussing this stuff with all these great people here, look at all the new aftermarket stuff, read a book, write a book. I think my point is out there!
