I canclled my order today!
I ordered my car in May. It was built on the first day of production 9/7. My vin is
1ZVHT82H855100673. My sales rep has been great. I an personally convinced that there were problems with some of the cars built on the first few days and were recalled for parts and/or workmanship. I have no proof of this opinion other than what I read here and the use of common sense. Supposedly, my car has been in transit somewhere on a rail car for over a week. No one at Ford has any clue where it is or when it will arrive. I am appalled that it may take three months to deliver a car after it is produced.
Today I have cancelled my order with the dealership. I also called Ford Customer Relation Center and politely, yet directly, told them what I think of this situation.
Even if the car magically arrived today I would not purchase it, since I believe that it has been recalled at least once for repair. I would never feel comfortable owning it. Will I buy one in the future? Maybe.

Sorry to hear that.
I KNOW its got to be hard when you ordered in the first batch, and Ford is still denying you all the car, meanwhile you can hop to most any car lot and pick your choice. I can't believe how Ford Bungled it!
The waiting is killing me, I have yet to order, or get further than financing on mine- and I am still waiting on the IUP/Manual hold to lift on the one I must have. (that and I plum forgot about the vert).

i understand what you are talking about but you have to be patient! if you didnt order one im sure you would not be as upset that they are taking as long as they are to come out! i would reconsider you cancelling your order i think you will regret that in the dear future!
I don't fault you for that. Getting your stang later may be worth your peace of mind. When you buy a used car you always have that feeling that something something may be wrong that you haven't found out about yet. I would not want to pay 25K+ and still be having that feeling. You would have a warranty, but if it had some work done already it may to be quite as pristine.

Good someone else will buy yours and will take care of the car.
YOU WILL SUFFER WHEN YOU SEE YOUR MUSTANG ON THE ROAD AND YOU DIDN'T WAIT.
I understand - there would always be that concern about "the black hole" the car seems to have been in. That car already has some kind of history good bad or indifferent. When we buy a new car we like to assume the "history" starts at that moment - not three months before.
Well - you know what they say - if it has wheels or bumps - you are going to have problems with it. I have been around a long time - been around many wheeled and bummped "items" and I can confirm that statement is true.

No, the car doesn't have any type of "good bad or indifferent" history. We have known FROM DAY ONE that any Ford car, no matter what, when it is ordered from the factory takes 6-8 weeks to be delievered. We aren't at 8 weeks from job1 yet, therefore, the car, built on 9/7, can't even be considered late.
Well, with a VIN ending in 105###, I suppose I am one of the first 5000. I just found out that my car is still sitting on a lot at the factory, It was built on 9/29, and has had a defective light switch repaired, at the very least.
Good? I suppose even with test mules there are bound to be some mistakes... but it is EXTREMELY frustrating to see later orders get from factory to garage in TWO WEEKS. Why is it still sitting there? Supposedly it's due to a shortage of rail cars.
Super Sonic, I believe you need an attitude adjustment. It's well over two months since his car was built, and his car doesn't need to even cross an ocean. Unless I had some unavailable-anywhere-else plan, I would be doing the same thing. It's unconscionable that Ford isn't doing everything in it's power to take care of the most loyal customers.
Exactly what does $625 of inland destination charges buy these days?

Dude, that stinks that you ordered yours way back in May and still don't have it while others have picked up theirs. But, you have already waited 5+ months, so hold on just a little longer. Once you get it, it will be worth the wait.

I'm just curious as to how people are finding out such details. I was told that my dealership wouldn't know it was coming to them until it showed up at their door.
What did you order? If it is what I am waiting for maybe I will buy it when it arrives. You need a little more patience. All of the cars that were first built all sat there for a very long time before being shipped out.
I also ordered mine in may but it is scheduled to be built next week. Sure I hope it shows up by the end of the month but realistically I will be lucky if I receive it by the end of the year.

Man, sorry to hear about your long wait. But I've got to agree with most posters here - it stinks to wait but I do think you may have jumped the gun on cancelling.
I do not believe for one minute that your car 'has been recalled twice'; actually, I don't think it was ever 'recalled' because it never left. And, if in fact your car WAS held up to repair some mysterious, undefined 'problem' it is to your advantage that Ford fixed it first before delivering it to you. If they had, they you REALLY would have been unhappy.
Either way, good luck. If you are happy with your decision, then I'm happy for you. That's all that matters.
Personally, I would have waited to at least see it first. I'm pretty sure you still could have cancelled after seeing the car. But my guess is that once you would have actually laid eyes on it, sat in the seat, felt the steering wheel and heard her run, you would have jumped for joy and screamed at the top of your lungs, "I'LL TAKE IT!!!"

As I stated in my original post, I have no proof of anything regarding the reason for this car's long delay. But common sense seems to tell me to order a different car. It has not been eight weeks since I ordered the car; it has been almost two months since the car was built, with no ETA forthcoming from anyone at FORD. Several dealers in my area have recieved GTs and have already sold them. There cannot be
real problems, therefore, with transit issues. Nor do I buy that it takes two months to do quality checks on these cars, since many people with dearly build dates have already recieved their cars.
When your are about the spend 27K for a new car, you do not want to have any reservations about its history. It may very well be the best Mustang every built, but I will always have a bad tates in my mouth about it. I will wait and order one when I feel comfortable in doing so.
In fact, should I see my car on the road, I be glad that any possible issues with its quality do not rest on my shoulders.
I would rather order a new car with piece of mind then accept this car with questions.
This is just my personal opinon. I respect those of you whose opions may differ.
Enjoy your Sangs! I will join you soon!
