I have a permanently affixed smile after today. Traded in my '02 Isuzu Rodeo on my new baby.....A Torch Red GT on Red Leather (automatic, IUP, spoiler, 500 shaker, 17" upgrade wheels). I am taking it in Wednesday for the perma-plate treatments (special paint protectant...leather treatment...carpet protectant...undercoating...and rust preventative). I am going to keep this car forever, so I wanted all the sound proofing and weather corrosion protection I could get. They are going to give me a free loaner car on Wednesday while they do everything...... I am so happy, and I can't keep from doing this: . p.s.- As you all know, I had a Silver GT on order.....and this car is still coming in for somebody other than me. Torch Red was originally my second choice, and seeing it in person...coupled with getting it now, has turned me into 'OWNER' instead of 'WAITER'.

Kevin, Congrats on your new GT, same options we have. I love our GT and will baby it far more than most, but is no way I will let anyone do any of those treatments.

I know you just want the best for your baby and your most likely all set on doing all those Dealer offered protections anyway. Bro, from an old fart, your car does not need any of those special paint protectant...leather treatment...carpet protectant...undercoating...and rust preventative. It is just a way for them to cash in on your new found joy. The paint is fine just use your favorite wax polish what ever you like useing. The interior, any leather conditioner will do and if you are hard on carpet use a $6 can of Scottguard, if not skip it. It is fact undercoatings promote corosion. The underside is coated in production of the steel with E-Glav. Just stray paint the rear axle with a black rust preventive paint to keep it like new. All the steel body panels are also two-side Electro-Glavanized. Reconsider, save your money pal, for other things.

Bruce

Hey Kevin:
We were on the same boat... Nov-1 order date... remember? I'll have to wait for mine. Build date 12/10. Dealer says delivery maybe before end of year.
I can't blame you. She is awesome.
Congrats!

Wow Bruce.... This is definitely not a field of my car knowledge (protectants and undercoating). Really, I am going to keep this car forever, and it will be a daily driver.......but undercoating makes a car have a greater chance of corrosion? I don't have to worry about salt on roads here in the maritime climate of the Pacific Northwest.....but it does rain cats and dogs alot of the time. If you are reading this post.....please educate me a little more on what I truly don't know much about. If any of you others that have factual knowledge on this subject, please chime in......

...I'm just waitin to hear from SixtySix when that beauty arrives. It will be great to see somebody is enjoying the ride in the warm sunshine.

Bruce is right on the mark... you don't need any of those things.
Really... listen to him...
The dealership is preying on your emotions and attachment to the car....

Hey, it's not ALWAYS warm here. In fact right now it's 38 degrees, which means it will make it into the upper 20's tonight. Daytime high today 55, tommorow 53.

It's actually snowed her twice in the last 20 years! (no accumilation though)

Admittedly this is about as cold as it gets

Today was WAAAY too cold for my taste Tony. I left Iowa many years ago to escape the cold!

EDIT: Just to keep it OT, very nice choice of a Stang there. Almost what I have coming down the pike. <looks at calendar>
