I say, go with plan D ...
Make your own.

Get an 05 GT or 07 GT (whenever the time is right for ya)
and paint it DHG if they don't offer it... and aftermarket part the car, or if Ford has all the design cue's...

It was more of Ford's patterns and inclinations than inside info.

My '06 Cobra guess wasn't completely right since it wound up being the '07 MY GT 500 (them bastads ).

The thought of not being called a Cobra never crossed my mind but I think SVT will bring back the Cobra name plate possibly in '14. If it happens I will forgive and forget. Until then... FORD YOU CAN KISS.....................

The '08 Bullitt was an easy call since it coincided with the 40th Ann of the movie. I do think there will bet another Bullitt in '13 MY and would be my retirement present and last the Mustang I get.

Ford sold their soul to Shelby because a few idiots there wanted to rub elbows with Shelby hence the recreation of the GT500 in name only. He payed them back as before which serves them right while also alienating the SVT Cobra faithful. Many congrats to Ford, it got two black eyes for the price of one.

I am sure many GT500s have sold because of the Shelby emblem specially on the '07 MY though I believe had it been named as a Cobra it would have sold as well if not better.

It might sound as sour grapes on my part but Ford might have finally realized substance over stickers wins every time.

Oh yeah, GT500's are total "sticker" cars.

Everything that endears the Cobra to its sycophants is due to being based on a chassis that was co-engineered by Fred Flintstone.

If the GT500 suffered, it wasn't due to Carroll Shelby (and the still as yet to be determined royalties paid to him), rather it was the dissolution of SVT proper due to a cadre of a$$hats within Ford who had absolutely no love for the group.

In any event, anybody who thinks that returning to the Cobra name is somehow going to make things "right" in Mustang world are going to be sorely mistaken. Ford knows it charge a premium for the top tier performance car and people will gladly pay it. If anything dropping the Shelby moniker will only increase the bottom line since they wont have to pay to use the name.
