I had ordered my '07 GT with the standard 17" bullits but my brother and 12 year old son convinced me today to add the 18" polished bullits. My dealer was more than happy to add the extra $825 to my order; I'm just hoping that it doesn't mess anything up in terms of the delivery date because he already had a VIN for me. I was initally afraid to get the polished bullits because I don't think the finish will hold up well through New England winters. Anyone having any problems with the finish now that they've been on the road for a while?

Bob, I had made a similar post wanting to know the same thing here: http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?sh...arance+longterm I was hoping for more of a response than I got back then. At this time I am thinking about the stock bullitts (timeless design) as my choice, and going for 18" aftermarket wheels with a chrome finish. Even though my car will probably never see rain or snow, I hope we can get some more feedback this time around.

Good idea sticking to the stock bullits and then getting a brighter chrome or polished wheel for summer. I spoke with a wheel company representative who felt polished wheels has the longest lasting and best finish. His reasoning was that the finish could always be restored by buffing or even sanding which can't be done with chrome or painted wheels.

unfortunately with polished aluminum you will be buffing them every couple of weeks, even in good weather. I refuse to let mine see the snow. I can just imagine how terrible they would look after a few weeks.

Bob-
The 64W Polished Bullits have a clear coat finish on them. Just keep a good coat of wax on them and you're good to go!

Do not use any metal polish on them (Mother's, etc.) or risk removing the clear, then you will have to use metal polish to upkeep the polished finish.

btw- I currently have 2 coats of Zaino on mine.

I ran mine through winter - of course it only snowed once so no biggie. Anyways, they seem to be holding up just fine and are as bright as the day I bought them, just gotta spend a little extra time and car keeping them clean.

I did not run mine through a CT winter. I found that 17" Chrysler 300 steel wheels with a larger side wall Bridgestone Blizzak winter tire did wonders. I even found a hubcap that did not look too bad. About mid April, I put the polished back on.

Bob, keep in mind where some of these post are coming from, they have little experience with salt and sand, an inch of snow and the whole town shuts down, the stores are empty of milk and bread, the kids are home and government offices are closed. I have two sister's that live down South, and they find the whole "panic" thing over a little snow hysterical.
I doubt any thought was given to how eager you will be to polish and wax those wheels when it hasn't been above 30 degrees for the last month either.

Thanks for all the replies!

Taco Bill, your wheels look fabulous, and what a great choice of color on your car!!

Ray, you're right on about the snow experience. There aren't too many people that use a Mustang as a daily driver all winter long. I intend to use the polished 18's through the northeast winter and snow, but if it's really bad, I'll take SullyC's advice and buy a set of take off 17" bullits and some blizzaks.
