How to remove headlight cover to paint buckets?

Hi how do take the front plastic cover of the headlight off to paint the buckets inside? Isn't the cover glued on so taking the cover off would cause water or air to leak in creating condensation? what would you need to glue the cover back after?

I haven't removed the headlight lenses, but I did remove the lenses for the front bumper lights. A heat gun on the low setting, a flat blade screwdriver and patience. Lots of patience. As the heat gun gets the adhesive to a point where it can be loosened, pull the lens up with the screwdriver very slowly and only go a few inches at a time.

There is a guy on the LLR and I think he visits here that has been working on this very thing. Read Post 10 in the following thread.
