Curious? How much does a brand new 05GT(Mustang) engine cost?

By the way it's not for me.

The initial complaint was that the this person was parked started the car up giving it gas and the gas pedal alegedly stayed to the floor until the engine blew. It was then taken to Ford.

She then told Ford that she had taken the GT to a Jiffy Lube type oil change place to have the car serviced. Ford found the screw to the oil pan was not put in at all and the engine had no oil in it and bang she has no engine.

She is trying to sell it for $25,000.00.

I would think she would have a good case against jiffy. Not the first time I have heard of this happening. Another goos reason to take the car to your dealer for service. We charge $14.95 which is less than most of the quick shops.

Sorry about this. Not sure if it was a Jiffy lube or a knock off oil change place chain. Anyhow this place is not taking responsibility and is saying that each car is inspected before it leaves so this does not happen.

Inspected so it doesn't happen...RIGHT....

Everytime I've taken my car there, they NEVER complete their 'checklist'
Door nipples greased, washer fluid filled, tire checked....everytime, somethings not checked....

...so that wouldn't suprise me at all...

I've seen that happen before. They should be going after the oil change place. Also, since FORD is claiming the problem was caused by the drain plug, see if they will go to court with you. If FORD doesn't want to be involved then I'd be a little suspicious.

I have had bad experiances with jiffy lube, used to take my old ranger there. One day I was driving home from jiffy lube and when I went to parallel park, I thought my truck was on fire because it bagan smoking like crazy under the hood. I popped it, they left my filler cap off of my master cylender. I let that slide. My next trip, they left my truck 2 quarts low, got the idiot light on the way home. Was my last visit. Sorry to not offer an answer to your question, just wanted to warn people about those places.

She should have a reasonable case against them if they left the plug out.

Took my 05GT to the dealership for it's first oil change last week. First 2 oil changes free. I scheduled an appointment. Tool over 1-1/2 hours for a scheduled oil change. My car was washed (without asking me) with their "whirling rag" washer! The car had 1-1/2 miles more on the odometer than recorded on the "mileage out" noted on the receipt. The shifter **** was slightly twisted, like what happens when I give it some aggressive shifting. There was an ink mark on my leather seat.

These are reasons that I do not like using the dealership for routine service.

Im not sure how much one would cost from ford but Ive seen engine/tranny combos pulled from 05 GT's on ebay for 4-5 thousand. Seems about right for a complete engine with trans.

Yaa I do my own oil changes to. Its easier, plus you know you've done it right then. I don't trust any place really. The Ford Dealership in my town forgets things alot. It makes me feel uneasy
