How to Measure & Cut Rear Springs - 2005 Convertible
I am going to cut my springs on my 2005 convertible to lower the rear by 1". Folks who have done this say to remove one full coil.
Understanding some don't support cutting springs, I have two questions:
1) Exactly how do I measure one full coil? Just cut the underneath where the end is?
2) How do I make sure the newly cut end sits right, and not at an angle? Some have suggested turning the spring upside down because this put the newly cut end in a more stable position.

ive been kicking this around on my 05. the bottoms of the frt struts i think could be cut because the bottom looks linear even though its listed as a constant spring.
the rears though i dont think you can get away with it. the springs are not straight, kinda hour glass shaped and the ends are smaller. they look more progressive.
i just put a set of bullitt springs on my V6 frt, they sat shorter on the floor, but raised my car 1/2". i like the stiff ride but really wanted it 1/2" shorter than stock

hey if cutting springs is good enough for chip foose its good enough for me. I run cut rear springs for a while until I found a good price on a full set of springs. Worked out well.
i put on the roush 1" drop rear springs and the rearend shifted at least 1/2 ". yes you will need an adj panhard bar. coupe's are a poc but vert's have all the extra bracing making it more difficult, just did a vert last thursday for a fellow club member. you can do it without removing the x bracing just remove the shocks(just bottom bolt) disconnect sway bar and pull down on axle one side at a time and wiggle the spring out. make sure you clock the spring in the isolaters. measured the vert before we started and rear was already out almost a 1/4" to start and was over a 1/2' after install.
White08GT - wow, it would be great to not have to unbolt the vert's bracing. I have seen that getting the spring out requires a little bit of leaning on the brake rotor/axle. How much travel are you creating by pushing down? 1" or 2"? Is it an easy push or will it require some oomph? Think it would help by taking off a couple of the bracing bolts?

Also, what do you mean by "clocking"?
