How many miles are you guys gettting on the stock 2006 GT tires? My car has 8k and I have a front tire that is flat. I need to decide if I want to replace the tire or get a new set.

I have after market 17x9 bullets that I've had on the last 5k miles. I noticed this tire was low a few months ago and filled it. Then 2 days ago I noticed it was half flat again. Yesterday it was flat. I filled it last night and its flat again today. I would rather it be the tire than some kind of sealing problem with the rim. I'll find out when I take it in.

If I replace the set, I'm thoinking of going with BF TA g-force kdws 255/50r17. Any pros or cons on these tires?

 

I have the BFG KDWS 255/50/17s on my '05 GT with the stock rims. They seem to be holding up well, i have 15,000 mi on the tires. I put them on when the car was brand new.

 

I have a little over 20,000 miles on my 05 GT and I already went through two sets of Pirelli's.

They seem to wear out very quickly. Although I can't figure out why.

 

With a screen name of " Holeshot " , you are wondering why tires don't last? ( I am assuming since the last part was a new sentence and you have an interesting avatar that it was humor, but no smiley )

My 05 has 9500 on the original Pirelli tires with lots of tread left, but I rarely spin or squeel the tires. My 95 has KDWS's on it and I like them, but not enough miles to recommend or not based on longevity.

Thanks guys. It was a small screw in the tire so I had it repaired.

I had a service issue with Ford in trying to get this fixed. I called ahead to see if they were busy and they said no wait come on in. I got there and they said 30-40 minutes and I'd be out of there. An hour later I hear my car start thinking they're done but they're just getting started. Then they tell me they can't take off the rim because they aren't the stock lug nuts and they don't have the right key for the lugs. Yes I have aftermarket rims & lug nuts but is a 19mm lug key some unique tool that only discount tire has? So I wasted an hour at ford. Went to discount tire and they had me fixed (for free! Ford wanted $15 to plug a tire) in 30 minutes. I'll be writing the service manager at ford.

I had 20,000 on mine when I replaced them. They are still in great shape, probably not even halfway gone. The only reason I replaced them is to get some bigger meats. I think the stock ones are great tires. Now if I ever sell it, I have the original tires. I know it is not worth anything money wise however I can show a buyer how good of shape the stock tires are with that many miles on them. IE weren't used in burnouts or abused.

 

and to top it off pirelli's r expensive to replace as it is....i know these things arent known to last forever but honestly knock on wood, i havent had a problem

 

I'll say that on my '98, the stock Goodyears were doo doo... they wore like crap. all cut up, cupped and pulled like the alignment was off. I had the dealer check my alignment several times on it.. and I was **** about the air pressure. I replaced those with BFG Comp TAs around some Cobra R wheels.. they wore super straight. Never had problem 1 with those. Even though BFG is owned by Michelin which is a French company... I'll look past that for my tires. I'd have no reservations about BFGs. For my truck tires either... BFG A/Ts have been real perfomers for me over the years... in all weather (and terrain on the trucks).

 

14,000 on my stock Pirelli's so far, and they are wearing fine. I've had them rotated twice so far

 

18,000 on my Pirellis and they aren't half gone. I was wondering how long I can expect these to last. Looks like I should get 30 k or so.

 

I'm just under 29k on mine, and intend to replace them at 35k with BFG KDWs - but have no gripes with the Pirelli's at all.

 

I heard that going the plug route for a tire fix is bad mojo and that you should do a interior patch instead. Can't for the life of me remember why though.

 

I have 39k on my Pirellis. Its about time to retire them. Im at the wear marks on all sections of the tread. My wet traction went down the tube at about 28k+. Other than that Im pleased with how many miles I got out of them.

 

I have over 47,000 miles on my stock tires and they are holding up fine. I will probably replace them just before winter. Did pick up a big nail in the passenger front tire. Took it into the dealer and they fixed it for me. Still holding up fine after 1 month of repair.

 

I have 17x9 Bullitts too and I'm still using the original 235 Pirellis on my '05. I'm at 16k miles now (1k on the new rims) and they have lots of profile left on them.
Traction seems better on the wider rims and the sealing is perfect, no leaks.
You might want to check the valve on that wheel.

 

12.7k on my Pirellis, 89% highway. Rotated twice and are holding up fine. I'm guessing I'll get 25k out of them at least.

 

Well, I took the car into today to get the oil change, brakes checked, etc. Told them car is pulling to the left. Sure enough, another friggin nail in another tire. I swear I'm going to give the bill for tires to the contractor in our subdivision. That's 2 out of 4 tires now repaired. The tires just now are in the "yellow" zone. I'll be replacing them before winter. Service techs say they are holding up very well - 48,000 miles on them now. But of course, I don't do burn outs, donuts, etc. That's not to say that I haven't ever chirped them, it's just that doing those activities makes me see money going out the window.
