Today was my first scheduled maintenance visit, which amounted to just
an oil change and fluid check. I also had them check the clunking noise I
have heard during steering. As I suspected, this was the same problem that
is refered to in this forum's technical section. I'm not too bothered by this,
as the fix is covered by the warrenty and the rest of my Mustang is so fantastic.
However, I was wondering how common is this problem?

No issues yet. Car is SO far superior to the '01 and '04 GT verts that I had.

I'd say it was very common in the first four or five build months..Both V6's and GT's ..But have not heard anyone with a Vert say they had it..The TSB fix does seem to work..Mines been quiet for the last 1500 mile sense they but all the newer parts in..

Got the clunking here too (plus a Shaker 1000 head unit that's gone wacko). Will be taking it in for repair this week.

had it, got the fix. Very common as in every car built before a particular date will have it.

I had it, but it was taken care of when the TSB was released by Ford. Took a week or two to order the parts. Once they came in I scheduled an appointment and had it done with the oil change. The work took less than one day. There is no noise now when turning. I can now make a tight turn with no noise, very happy.

I think most will have it if build before the tsb date in february that it speaks of. It is a design flaw , so I Imagine if they dont have it, they will, or they have the revised parts on there car. So very common it is.

Mine had it bad too. Installed the new parts last week along with a new Shaker1000 to replace the one that was giving fits, everything is all good now.

I had it, took it in before the TSB was issued, haven't heard it since.
