I placed my order and got my VOC just over 3 weeks ago on July 11th. I've seen some others that ordered beginning of July and they already have build dates. How long does it take to get the DORA? Is it something that the dealer gets right away after placing the order, or only after its been pulled from the queue?

I know others have had to wait a very long time for their cars, but when you see some orders go through so quickly you want yours to as well.

You should be able to get your DORA a few days later, but if your dealer is lazy, you may not get it for awhile. I haven't gotten a legible copy of mine yet. My faxed copy was undreadable.

Boy that makes me mad then. I'm heading to the dealer today to get a copy, I hope they have it. For me, the ERL is constantly C/U. Mike, your order was a week before mine, and Chucks was the same week as me, so that helps me out. I think they may be a bit lazy at my dealership.

I got bumped from 05 to a 06 but my dealer didn't order mine until 6/29 and
my DORA is 7/13. Look like he sat on it for two weeks. If he would have acted
sooner I probably would have a build date, I stopped in to see them last week
and he said I should hear something in the next few weeks. NEXT FEW WEEKS?
Is this going to be like getting a 2005 all over again?

It takes the dealer about 5-10 min to enter your order, then Ford's order management system spits out a DORA, if there are no mistakes with the order codes that are entered. I did my order over the phone, and the dealer faxed back my DORA an hour later.

He must have faxed you a Vehicle Order Confirmation as a DORA is not generated until overnight and takes 1-2 working days for a dealer to receive it.

I went to the dealer and found out my salesman either quit or was fired. So now I have someone new to work with. He said he'd get me the DORA tomorrow, assuming the order has gone through <fingers crossed>.

Got my DORA today but there's nothing on there any different that my VOC. It lists a partial VIN (6 characters) for now. It was dated 7/11 same as my VOC so they did enter it same day. It's missing my spoiler delete option only but the dealer said it's in the system. Anyone know if I can verify that myself?

You cannot verify it yourself, but you can ask the dealer for a printout of the updated DORA.

Please, please, please everyone remember, especially those of you just jumping into the game for '06 that a DORA means NOTHING if your dealer does not have allocation! It is not a guarantee that your car will be built. All the DORA reflects is that there is a valid order in the system and is in no way related to your dealers allocation (or lack of it).

It seems that people think that a DORA is the ticket their new Mustang; until your are serialized (meaning your dealer has allocation for the unit you are ordering), the DORA is a worthless piece of paper. I had one in my hand from mid January this year until early June until I was notified that the car would not be built. That's when Gary Yeomans Ford rescued me. Order on 5/18, serialized on 5/19, built on 6/20, in my garage 6/30. (GT vert premium, loaded). Yes, I did run the risk of having two cars, but only for a short time.

Get a straight answer about allocation or all of you c/u people may be back here this time next year in the same boat.

Good luck.

My original question was just concern that I did not receive the DORA so I thought my order was never even put in the system. But they did put it in the same day so that's good news. Now it's just the waiting game, checking the ERL every Monday morning. My dealer is one of the biggest in the Southwest, so they say, so they don't think it will be too long.

Now if I have yet to recieve a DORA since June 23 would this be that my dealer is waiting for allocation as they say they are waiting on FORD to pick up the order. They currently have 1 other order in which is a GT that was pushed from 05

Mark,

If they ordered your car on June 23rd then you can just go by and pickup a copy of your DORA since it appears they normally put it in same day or within a few days of your VOC. But I have found the DORA is useless, except to check that they got all your options right. It would then sit in the system until Ford picks it out of the "Clean and Unscheduled" eternity. You can keep dialing the ERL once a week to check status of your order. They pickup orders on Thursdays so I usually check Mondays.

thats pretty much what I figured but at the dealer they do not have a DORA for me and insist that they are simply waiting for Ford to pick up the order, which goes along with what you stated. Dunno if they actually put it in or not but if I had the dora I could call ERL and leave the poor dealer alone as I think they have enough to deal with.

Do you have your VOC? That has all the info you need to dial the ERL. They should have gave you a copy of your VOC right when you sat down to do the order. The VOC is Vehicle Order Confirmation, it will have the dealer code, order number, and body style needed when calling ERL.

Stephen, did you get your updated DORA? If you don't get a new one that has the spoiler delete option listed on it, your car is coming with a spoiler. NEVER trust a salsemen word.

I called and tried to get an updated DORA showing spoiler delete but 'the order guy' was not around so they said try back later. I'm going to try again Monday and see if I can pick it up or have them fax it over. I guess only certain people, not salesmen, have access to print the DORA.
