How Long...
#1
I was curious...I ordered my 2005 Mustang GT Premium on 12/11/04, Build Week Of 2/7/05, and as of 2/12/05 shipped by convoy carrier. How long does it usually take from the time it is shipped via convoy carrier to arrive at the dealership? The dealership says within the next week...but I just wanted to here some other opinions...Thanks!

From my personal experience and that of others on TMS, the ETA info is meaningless.
It could be right on, but if so you're lucky. My salesman acknowledged that the ETA info is worthless. It will be there when it gets there.
Mine was built 1/12/05, shipped 1/30/05 (18 days later), I was given ETA Dealer dates of 2/4, 2/10/ & 2/17, and I'm still waiting.
Ask Kera and others.
Sorry to sound so cynical, but if you lower your expectations you won't be disappointed.
I truly hope yours comes directly in. But the truth is that Ford currently has some major logistical problems.

Mine was promised the week of February 21st, and arrived this past Thursday the 17th. From Michigan to Hamilton, Ontario.

I am truly delighted for you, Montrose. Maybe it is the shorter distance, or going North vs. going South. Enjoy your wheels, and drive it like you stole it.

Mine's still at the plant waiting for a rail car ,it was caught up in quality check with no real ETA as of right now ...the dealer expects it to be in by mid march from what the divisional manager told him .Not only that but I was told the rail yard is backed up .

Convoy carrier means that it has been unloaded, usually by train at a reginal holding lot. The status of, " SHIPPED CONVOY CARRIER", begines once the reginal holding lot takes the car. The car stays there until it is loaded on a truck. The time it takes to get on a truck to your dealer all depends on how many vehicles they have going to your area. These loads of vehicles include all types of Ford vehicles. They do not load just a couple of cars on a truck and ship. It is usually a full load.
For example my car status was, " shipped convoy carrier", starting on Dec. 6 2004, the car arrived on Dec 15, 2004. The trip by truck only takes several hours. So it sat at the holding yard for 9 days and was delivered on the 10th day. My Ford ETA was Dec 20, 2004 originally, then was moved back to Dec 15th, so my car arrived right on the ETA day. Hope all that helped some.

I hope you aren't as lucky as me. My car was shipped convoy carrier on Feb 7th. I was hoping for delivery before the 18th due to my long weekend. On Feb 17th I was told my car was in quality hold. I don't understand how it got off the truck and into quality hold, but they couldn't even give me an estimated delivery date. The customer service rep said she has seen them be on hold for hours or weeks. I ordered on Nov 4th and I can hardly stand it anymore.

Mine was built Jan. 25 and was supposed to be delivered by Feb. 5. It's now Feb. 22 and no sign of it. The customer service rep told me they were running 10-15 days late. But mine is headed right past that milemarker... I'm getting tired of waiting. I just sold my '02 GT, so I'm walking until I get it.

Scott, as long as you know the car is built and being shipped you are good. Once you know its built that wait thing gets real hard, because the excitement kicks in hard. I have been there , and a lot of people on this forum have been there, as well as you. Its hard, but man once you get it, this head bashing stuff will be one distant memory trust me my friend.
I try to give you encouragement, because many on here did the same for me, when I was going through what you are going through.
