How hard is it to close your doors?

My passenger side door is easier to close than my driver side door, but there's no way that my doors are anywhere as easy to close as this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CT4QjcUFnBU

The only way to replicate that on my GT is to roll down the windows a little.

Have you tried recalibrating them? Mine close easily like that..

I've tried recalibrating them several times as per the owner's manual but it doesn't seem to do anything. I haven't tried pulling the power to the computer and totally resetting everything.

I have to literally SLAM my doors shut. It was like this as soon as the car came off the transporter.

Yea, mine close like that too. If parked on an angle hard not to take my leg off, these doors are heavy.

They seem very light to me.
Everything is relative.
My last car had doors that were about 3 times heavier.
When I closed them you could feel it a block away.

I had to run down to the garage and check mine. The driver side is slightly easier to close than the passenger side. I have noticed recently that my driver side window opens and drops down to the very bottom positions a little harder. I probably need to recalibrate as well.

Both of my doors *feel* extremely heavy. It could be that the hinges need time to break-in. I have to slam them shut with quite a bit of force.

If I roll down the window or pop open the trunk (so that more air/pressure can vent out faster), the doors can close just as easily as the door in the video. I checked the vents in the trunk and they are unobstructed. I experimented with folding down the rear seats and the same thing still happens. Either the windows are not rolling down enough, or the vents aren't large enough. I need to find out how to really recalibrate the windows, because the FSM procedure isn't working given the fact that dude in the video simply let go of the door and it closed shut (like my Crown Vic's doors).

well my '07 is about the same as the vid. I find that sometimes I think I didn't push it hard enough to close completely and yet it does. I have never had to slam either door.

We bought a Neon years ago, then we found a lawyer and made them take the POS back.

The doors on my 06 close like the video.

My doors close pretty nicely.

The TRUNK on the other hand has to have some force applied.

My trunk closes very easily. It seems that as soon as the trunk comes down, it latches and closes properly with a gentle tap. I wish my doors closed that easily!

my trunk shuts by itself if i let it drop 2-3 inches!
my doors on the other hand always gave me a hard time
i HATE having my doors slammed, but unfortunately that's the only way to shut them at times.

i noticed when i'm outside the car and i shut any of the doors, i hear a thud fron the trunk lid due to the extra pressure.

seems like those of us having trouble closing doors are the few that have well sealed cars

a feature? a bug? i think it's just the way these things are meant to be made

That is wrong.
The trunk closure is related directly to the strut force.
The doors have windows that are open when you close them (NO SEAL).
The doors and windows are not functioning properly.
The trunk either needs a latch alignment or the struts are way too strong.

+1 My trunk practically shuts itself as soon as it gets close enough. I can use 1 finger on the "GT" fake gas cap to push the trunk lid down and WHOMP it latches shut.

The doors, OTOH, require slamming to shut properly. I too hear a "thud" in the trunk that sounds like air moving around and pushing against something. I isolated that "thud" to the air flaps that are used in two vents in the trunk. My Crown Vic has the same thing and I suspect many, if not all, cars have the same vents.

The window does drop down to help "ease" opening of the door and to raise back up to allow easier closing of the door. I think my short-drop isn't dropping the window enough and isn't dropping it FAST enough to facilitate easier opening. So when it isn't dropped down enough, there's still not enough room for the air to vent out while the door is closing. I always get a large WHIFF of air blowing in my face from around the window seal as I close the door.

The only way I can get my doors to close VERY easily is to roll down the windows. The doors close like butter when they are like that.

Part of that ease when the windows are down is caused by the heavy glass being lower in the door. The same thing happened in my 89 convertible. It had PLENTY of air leaks in the convertible top to equalize pressure. Yet, with the window down, the door closed super easy. Windows up, and it was more difficult, yet still no slamming required.

The window just has to be rolled down a few inches more to facilitate easier closing.

The heavy glass being lower in the door has no bearing on this condition, at least for my Stang. If I roll down the PASSENGER window, the driver's door becomes ultra easy to close. If I pop the trunk, either door is extremely easy to close.

I believe this is a problem with inadequate venting, or the windows don't drop down enough. I tried recalibrating it 20 times to no avail.
