My dads Mustang, a 1992 LX 5.0, forest green with white top and white interior, was stolen from a roller coaster theme park here in Ohio. It sucked. He found out about who did it though. It was a team of people who would pay to park at the parking lot and then tail every cool car that came in. Once you went into the park they knew you were gone for the whole day. They would then steal your car.

My dads insurance company figured out who it was with help form police, but it didnt change anything. We got updaters every once in a while letting us know what they recovered, which was like "right passenger door" or "rear-passenger seat." It just sucked.

Either way, long story short, they caught they f*ckers and my dad went to their hearing.... kinda cool, but not really. We never found another stang in that color combo, and ford cancelled the color the next year. They have never offered that color of green ever since. It was like a dark grass, or forest green color. Either way, a little lighter than bullitt green. Very nice with the white interior and top.

B@stards.... the insurance-replaced-car has all the bells and whistles when it comes to alarms and systems, but it really doesn't matter. If they want it, it's gone.... :notnice: :notnice: :notnice:

That's why a serurity system need to be connected to the batery and have a key code punch pad. When the car is started, if a certain code isn't punched within, let's say 10 seconds, it shuts off.

But that sucks about your dad's stang, it sounded very sexy...

correct

If a pro wants your stuff, or your car, its gone no matter what.
Exactly,

if they want your car they will take it.

especially is the new trend, they will break into your house and take the keys, or they will beat you up in a parking lot for the keys. :notnice:

I was thinking, only bad thing would be is that they'd trash the inside. Tear up seats, bust the radio, etc. So I wouldn't call police, I'd shoot em right there. Even if someone broke into my Saturn, I'd shoot their hiney and throw em in a ditch. Or break a leg and call cops. Whichever I'm in the mood for.
or on your keyless entry. have a disable brakes or clutch button. when the car locks them in and shove them off a cliff. and collect your ins money and get a new car. then sue their family for damages! and buy you a new cobra HAHA

Ever thought of putting a kill switch somewhere? If it was in a good/inconspicuous spot, it would add another obstacle for a potential car thief.

I saw a think in the UK where they had people stealing your car from you while you were stopped at a red light. A guy installed his own security system consisting of propane and tubes running under the car doors. With the flick of a switch a flame the length of the car would shoot out 2 feet away from the car and 3 feet high frying the person trying to steal his car. A rather severe way to protect your car but darn cool if you ask me.

I may get the anti-theft package if it reduces my insurance bill enough. I got a discount on my '98 GP by ordering it with an alarm (just the cheap horn kind), and it payed for itself in less than 18 months.

what about a system that detects when the car has been broken into (smashed window, lock picked, etc) and just disables some of the important funtions of the car. like it locks the car in neautral, or locks the handbrake or wheel up. or even just disables the ignition until te original key is inserted in the car? is that possible?
:goes and tinkers with mom's mazda:

I believe if you order the alarm for the mustang it comes with the perimeter sensor and motion sensor, therefore it would go off if a tow truck lifted it or if someone reached inside an open window. I have an alpine alarm on my 97 GT that does that. Works great. I just leave my windows rolled down. If someone reaches in, the alarm goes off, the window rolls up and my pager alerts me of the alarm.

"modern" cars (it has been like this for > 10 years) have chips built into the keys that send a signature to the car's computer. if the signatures of the key and the computer don't match, the car won't start. here in germany (europe?) the thing at the steering wheel where you put the key in (jesus... what's the name) has to be physically disconnected from the car's electricity system so that you can't short-circuit it. blah. dunno if it's like this in the states, though...

If your car is stolen most of the time you are better off if they dont find it. Theft recoveries are usually the most expensive to repair because the most expensive parts are the ones missing, or the the car is just beat all over, steal my car, please dont find it, I would rather get another one without the repairs and abuse.
