I searched the search engine and didn't see anything about this but if i overlooked it then i am truely sorry to have wasted space and time... but anyways back to what we are all here for...i was wondering when you go to the dealer and are ready to discuss prices and whatnot how do you go about getting the invoice price? Do you just ask and hope to recieve or do you have to be in something special? If one dealer won't give you invoice will another dealer? It just seem very important to find out becuae why pay MSRP when you can get the same thing for invoice...Please someone answer my questions any help would be greatly appriciated.

I may be wrong, but I find it highly unlikely that any dealer would sell this vehicle at INVOICE at introduction; maybe after a year or so on the market. I would definitely NOT pay MSRP (or above).

I found three dealers that said they would sell me an 05 Mustang at X-Plan price...two of those dealers told me that X-Plan is Dealer Invoice with Holdback (approx $200 added to that price) and that's what I would have to pay.
I talked to the third dealer yesterday and he told me he would honor X-Plan, and the price I will pay is Dealer Invoice with Holdback (nothing added to that).
I asked about ordering an 05 Mustang and he told me they would ask for a $500 refundable deposit and they would place the order for me, and I would have the car in 6 to 8 weeks (most dealers said 8-12 weeks on special orders).
So if things work out this week I might go ahead and place an order.

Step Two: Get A-plan pricing.
There is no Step Three.
Now get cracking!

PS: Did you mean to ask how people negotiated an invoice based price with their Ford dealer ? If so, there are quite a few posts out here where people describe how they interacted with their dealers.

I doubt if you can get invoice maybe 400-500 over invoice. Find the invoice of your car with all options plus delivery charges, then call every dealer in a 100 mile radius till one promises you the price you want. Go there and get it in writeing. Good luck! Let us know if you are succesful.
