How do you change a dead tail light?

I have a bulb out. I can't figure out how to remove whatever needs to be removed to change it.
Anyone else had a taillight go out? If so how did you fix it?

Should I just take it to the dealer to have it done?

Remove the plastic piece in trunk, its four plastic pop screws (whatever they're called) that just pop in and out. Then loosen the carpeting stuff on whichever side the bulb is out. After that the bulb is easy to remove, just a twist and pull figuring you already know which bulb to replace.

Sounds like time for Sequentials to me...

Once you pull the tail light assembly replace the burned-out bulb with an LED one - it will never burn out and you'll never have to pull the tail light assembly again!

It was a PITA trying to get at the bolts with the Shaker 1000 sub in the way, let me tell ya...

I also second the motion for you to install sequentials!!!

Got some money? I sank all mine into this freaking house. House rich & cash poor.
And I have to spend what little I have left pursuing a second mustang.

I can't figure out how to get the fricking bolts off out of the trunk. Its more driving me mad with the right turn signal blinking triple time.

April,
Those who can do, do. Those who can't, take it to the dealer. BTW, we do not charge that to replace a bulb!

Hey, no problem. I do not blame you, but some people do not have anyone to rely on, and that is where we come in. For thigs as simple as bulbs we do not charge our normal hourly rate.

I don't understand why ya gotta take the whole freaking assembly apart for a stupid $1.00 lightbulb!
For Fun stuff like shaker replacements(yes I am on #3) and oil changes my Dealer is VERY handy because I get to play with the ponies while I wait.

My pos Alero you just pull off and pop on.
