how do I fix this?

I can still shift it from park to drive. I have tried gluing the two parts together, lame glue I'm guessing. It didn't hold. So if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. Maybe a pdf file to the assembly. The piece you can't see is stuck in there, I was able to get it out tho. I think I would just like to replace it at this point. Thanks for the help in advance.

IMO, replacing is better than mending. Also I make it a habit to have a spare on parts that brake and might be difficult getting later on.

GO TCI. Well you can always make a boot for it too.

I would like to replace it, but would like to know how before I start the job. I don't want to take a bunch of stuff apart that I don't have to. Funds are tight so the tci piece is probably out of the question. Any info on how to replace it would be awsome. I will check with 70mach1 dude but I would think he would want to keep the stock pieces. Thanks Gents

Oh hell Glenn... I'm not the smartest dude in the pack. If my new TCI shifter works okay after my install in mid January I might let go of the stocker. I'll make you a special deal!! I'll stay in touch.

Cool

Or you could just install a stick shift boot like this crafty Mustang owner did? Very nice job! It almost looks better than original piece? CalStang

Sorry,
Mine went (05) two months ago and was replaced under Ex warranty. Cost to repair $465 Canadian.
They replaced the whole Unit, no repairs.
So, maybe find one from a wrecker(probably cheapest)
or ***** at Ford, The Slider in the Replacement Part is not the same as the original.
They probably knew of the Problem and just fixed the Part.
You might shame them into sharing the Cost ()

Hope you have a Successful Solution

Trust me Glenn it is a very well built piece. I will not be installing mine for a few weeks but here is a good link on how it works and how to install it.

I looked at that one also before I bought mine from CJ pony. The guy has 100% good feedback. Might be worth the chance. Might not. I understand the stockers from Ford are close to $600 plus labor... so my used one just got a boost in the butt. I looked tonight and the TCI unit at CJ Pony is back up to $339 shipped.

I wonder what went wrong with them that they had to be reworked? Yea CJ had a 25% off cupon that just expired on certain items also Probably wasn't good for the shifter. I ripped out the rest of the piece that broke on mine and hey it works better than new now. LOL Just doesn't look as good.

I'm on my 3rd shifter assembly on my 2005 Mustang...replaced due to the same problem you're having with yours. In both cases the dealer replaced the shifter under warrenty.
If I remember correctly the 1st shifter was replaced at no cost to me (factory warrenty) and the 2nd time it was covered under the extended warrenty. I believe I had to pay my deductible the 2nd time.

I do know the TCI shifter was down to $305 and some change shipped...because I almost bought it, but decided on some other stuff.

Sorry, I know it doesn't do any good now.
