Driving home from work today I had to stop at the lights next to the dealership where I ordered my new 2009 Mustang GT last month. So, I'm sitting there waiting for the light to turn green and suddenly a tractor trailer loaded with new cars comes across the intersection and pulls into the dealership parking lot. I thought to myself, ''wouldn't that be funny if...?''. The last car on the bottom row was a black Mustang GT coupe, polished 18 inch aluminum wheels, GT appearance pkg... the same features I had ordered. (It was the only Stang on board). I followed the truck out to the back of the lot and snapped a couple of pics with my cell phone. The driver was looking at me kind of funny so I explained that I was pretty sure he had my new car on the back of his rig. I asked him if it had the navigation system or not. He looked through the window but couldn't tell. They haven't called me yet but I'm almost positive I actually got to see my new car arriving at the dealership on the trailer truck! LOL! What are the chances of that happening by sheer coincidence?

 

That's cool dude. I ordered my '06 GT 'vert. I wanted to see it come in on the truck, but I had to work. I asked the salesman that sold it to me to take pictures when they brought it in. I do have pics with all the protective paper still on it, seats still covered in plastic. Following the truck into the dealership with your car on it - PRICELESS!

 

Aw, that's really great man! That's a nice thing to have- (especially if you're going to keep your car for a good long time). I hope I can get some shots of mine tomorrow with my digital camera.

 

You should have just walked into the dealership and asked them!

Do you have you VIN number and doing any tracking? That should help tell you if your car is built or shipped yet in case this one is not yours.

 

i know how you feel. i went up to the dealership on a sat and found the car setting on the side.
it had come in about 8pm friday night when they were closing. i had to wait till monday to pick up the car, but he did let me take it out for a spin...i went back up on sunday to see it but they had put it inside so no one would mess with it! here is a pict from that sat morning. may 6, 2006.

 

No... no VIN # or tracking yet- and I just ordered it 7/11/08 so I wasn't expecting it to arrive for a few more weeks. I'm going to call the salesman tomorrow and check it out. Even if it's not mine, it was fun watching it come in.

 

I doubt very much that was yours, but stanger things have happened! It took me 8 weeks to get mine from a dealer just outside of Worcester. You can see my timeline in my signature.

When you call the salesman, get your VIN number from him. He may also know what week it's being built. If not, you can go over to blueoval.com and someone there can look it up for you. They can also get you a pdf copy of your window sticker if you're up to the blend date.

i know how you feel tho, im waiting oh so patiently to get my CS (and get home from iraq!!). actually mine should be done being built within the next three days, my build (blend?) date was august 4th. takes about 9-10 days ish. ahhhh i cant wait!!!!

I always try to take an opportunity to thank forum members who are serving in the military for their honorable service to our country. YOU ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST! My oldest son is a pilot and warrant officer in the army and is currently stationed @ Ft. Rucker, Alabama where he's training to fly an AH64. Black09GT, too bad you didn't follow him all the way to the dealership and watch him unload the GT...that can be a sight to see. If he knows that may be the GT you ordered he would be a lot more careful with it as you "eyeball" him.

I actually talked with the driver for several minutes. He seemed like a good guy. I knew he had a whole truckful of cars to off-load and was busy. I didn't want to get in his way or "wear out my welcome" so I headed home for supper instead of hanging around.

Hey- it's 9:00 am here in Massachusetts. The salesmen are in! Gotta make that phone call!

Nope, I don't feel lucky any more... false alarm... it wasn't mine. The salesman said the one I saw arrive yesterday was almost an exact clone of the one I ordered- only difference is it doesn't have the Nav. system like mine.

On a more positive note- he said mine is scheduled to be delivered to the dealer on Monday, Aug. 18th. He didn't have my VIN # handy but I asked him to e-mail it to me when he gets the chance.

If you guys hear a loud sometime next Monday... that'll be me! I'll keep you posted!

 

I remember those feelings all to well and not once but twice now, it's like waiting for a babyto be born ! They should have a vin# prod date by now ? Dealers get an update once a week on all orders in the bank !
