Buy a $200 car cover, put it in the garage, lock the door and never drive in except to car shows.

Just kidding.

I was wondering the same thing too. I'm buying a black GT, and know that I'll be a slave to the Mr. Clean No Streak Washing gun.

I don't have a garage, so i'm investing in a $200 storm car cover. It'll help with the door dings, too.

Will your car cover protect your car against falling trees?
I plan on chopping them all down in the mid part of September! [/b][/quote]
My ecolo ego is telling me that you should send your chopped trees over here so i can transplant them in my crescent.....I wouldn't mind a few Californian trees around here, in revenge i will be sure to send you a couple of Pure Canadian maple syrup trees.... :moose:

Thats funny because I am going to keep mine in the garage as well as keep it covered with a car cover. Scratches and humid air don't stand a chance!

just make sure to empty that drain that sits right under your car, so that way you will prevent it from rusting .

I got one of those Mr. Clean things, haven't used it yet as its raining here...

I use turtle wax on the outside, and armor-all on the inside. And get a copy of the service manual so you know what needs to be replaced when (for oil changes, filters, spark plugs). Keeping it maintained will prevent a lot of irritations.

seems like new cars have an extra coat of clearcoat that wears off after a few washes. this still leaves you with a fragile clearcoat that must be carefilly maintained to prevent it from becoming worn. Does anyone know if it's even possible to maintain this so-called extra clear clearcoat? Of course handwash vs car wash/brushes etc. But I think harsh detergents can strip that showroom shine. Use of a mild detergent like Mr Clean Auto dry might be best. The less rubbing the better. Also I plan to change my own oil since I drive 120 miles daily. Maybe I'll keep my 01 as a daily driver??? Let's see drive it daily for 5 years at 100,000 and get something else or drive it on weekends and keep it forever??? Hmmm? Who knows!

On one of the other forums there is an extensive discussion about car wax and stuff. There are some guys that spend more time detailing their cars than I spend playing with my kids!

You might want to check it out.

I'm not sure if anyone has already explained this...so I apologize if I'm repeating someone else..I didn't read all of the replies..ANYWAYS..

This is the proper way to care for a Mustang. FIRST...in your 1000 initial miles, drive it really hard and at uneven speeds..NO BURNOUTS...

Then everyday from then on..make sure you do:

1) REGULAR BURNOUTS
2) Like someone said, FEED IT RICE EVERYDAY!
3) REV the **** out of it.
4) Keep it above 90 at all times on the interstate.
5) give it treats: i.e. Superchargers: Ported heads...new cams etc.
6) Healthy competition: Camaro's and lots of them...ER wait, that's not competition..Try Corvettes...
7) Always drive like a bat out of inferno

Those are just the basics

One word.....Detailing.

Drop some change to get it detailed every so often, you know, to get all those ketchup spots and seme...er soda stains out

I will be taking one Sat a month to wax my baby (the car...pervs) and clean the interior, probably get it detained once every 6 mos. I'm also gonna baby my ragtop and have it steam cleaned every so often. Gonna be living in DC area, so I may keep the Supra for winter driving, but we'll see. it's paid for so I don't need to trade!

I just checked out the Zaino stuff, that's a lot of freakin work, think I'll stick to Meguiars and Turtle wax. But the name of the game is KEEP YOUR FREAKIN CAR CLEAN.... nothing worse than a hot ride that has tons of garbage in it.

Darth

This is what I'm ordering from California Car Cover

2005 Ford Mustang (GT) Stormweave - Tan $179.99 $179.99
Cable & Lock $10.00 $10.00
Storage Bag $5.00 $5.00
Total Order $194.99
Standard Shipping $12.99
Order Subtotal $207.98

Stormweave's dense construction cushions against parking lot dings and is resistant to tears and punctures. Stormweave is highly water resistant and is available in grey, blue or tan. Stormweave can help protect your vehicle's interior and finish from both sun and rain. The four-layer fabric is rain resistant but breathable, great for all-weather, outside use. Snow, rain, dew, industrial pollutants, tree sap and bird droppings are kept away from your vehicle's finish. The unique four-layer fabric construction includes two center layers made of short, dense fibers that act as a moisture barrier to repel water, yet allow the passage of air.
