Does the hood or body need to be drilled or modified to put these in?

Ford didn't do it because that piece of bent metal is cheaper.

Thanks, now I know another thing I want to buy

Yes... in order to install the Redline Tuning struts you have to drill holes in your hood and in the body panel where the struts connect below your hood. Once the holes are drilled you line up the brackets and secure them using rivets.

I think the new COBRA if I remeber correctly has the prop rod too. Talk about cutting corners.

Talk about putting an almost 500 hp car in our hands for hopefully 40 grand or less......

I think I can live with the prop rod on the Cobra......

Looks like a good mod. I remember a while back we had a thread on here about things Ford shouldve done or added to the '05.

Ford just cut corners where they thought it would not matter and gave us a 300hp car for $25K. I agree that they should be on the car, but I can add them. B)

My '94 Taurus has them as well They don't seem as large as the Redline Tuning ones though?

Prop-rod is ok, but I was worried the other day when there was a bit of a breeze! Could the 45lb hood could fall off the support?

I've heard that racing enthusiats prefer a prop rod, because when you start really working on the engine, you can just flip the hood and rest it on the roofline (with padding, of course). Where as with the hood shocks, its one more thing in the way and to unfasten when working on the engine.

Looks good though.

Although I think that is a good looking mod, I am glad that Ford did not put them on, because if you plan on keeping the car, you would have to replace them eventually.

Personally, I don't mind the prop rod, but to each his own.
