Hood rust issue...repaint or carbon
Ook so I just finished sanding all the bubbled up spots off and got through the oxidation down to the metal on about 5 big spots on the hood. Question is..should i just repaint and possibly go through this again or just put a carbon fiber hood on?

Well, that depends...
Carbon fiber needs to be taken care of, depending on the environment you live in. Either way, it will need to be waxed often to maintain the clear coat. It is lighter, however even though its strong you can still damage it, so you will have to learn to have gentle hands. Plus, I wouldn't recommend having hood struts with carbon.
Cost is another thing to consider. If you're going to repaint your stock hood, now is a good time to consider a scoop, vents or whatever it is you'd like.

Are the hood struts really bad for carbon fiber? Are cf hoods really that much lighter? I have no problem waxing the hood etc just don't want to deal with the hood rust defect again so I'm not sure which to do

Periodically, I notice bubbles on my hood.
I also sand them down with 80 grit, treat the area with Rust Reformer and let dry for a few hours and then paint with Rustoleum. I brush the paint on since it on the bottom of the hood so far.
The bubble have not returned to a repainted area yet.

my original hood was real bad(fang shaker replaced it), but if I ever decide to resurrect it, might look at stripes in the area where it bubbled over the top- repeat repairs might be hidden easier as the spots are about where stripes would go...then could keep the original paint mostly untouched.
underside is where they all start, but it can spread under quick and before you know it, its showing on top of the hood...
